Default New Year -- New Hardware

    Pics:

    http://imgur.com/a/K5G25

    Specs:

    1x MSI Gaming M7 Motherboard.
    1x Asus Predator 27" 4K monitor.
    1x Samsung 850 PRO 512GB SSD.
    2x Samsung 960 EVO 1TB SSD.
    2x Seagate Firecuda 1TB 7200 RPM HDD.
1x Asus GTX 1080 O.C. Strix Gaming Edition Graphics Card. (1 more lying around for SLI if I need it).
    1x Corsair k70 RGB CherryMX-RapidFire Keyboard.
1x Razer Mamba Tournament Edition Mouse.
    1x Razer Chroma Mouse Pad.
    1x i7 6700K 4.0Ghz.
    2x G.Skill RipJaws V Series (16 GB Each).
    1x EVGA 850W Power Supply.
1x Deepcool Captain 240 Ex Liquid Cooler.
1x NZXT S340 Elite Black Case.
2x Corsair SP120 RGB Case Fans.
2x Corsair SP140 Case Fans (not in use).
1x EVGA Black Custom Wiring/Sleeve Kit.
1x NZXT Hue+ Advanced LED Lighting Kit.

    Other:
    1x Raspberry PI 3 Model B+.
    1x PS4 Pro.
    1x Windows 10 PRO.

I did end up cleaning up the wires you see in the pics. There's almost none now. I also removed a bar from the back of the case to handle cable management easier (someone on reddit did the same thing for the same case :]). I stripped some myself and combined them or I purchased custom wiring kits and sleeves to make them thinner and easier to handle. Then I bought velcro's and straps and clips and managed them properly so it doesn't look like that hot mess in the pic

Jesus man congrats. That's gotta feel good coming from laptops. Now if you don't already you need to find a proper chair to captain your ship because you're not gonna be spending much time away from it for a while.

Can you get a bigger desk for a second (perhaps 144 hz) monitor?

I will. This desk is 10 years old. It's been lying around in the storage room and I figured I would take it out and try it. It was actually broken and I reassembled and fixed it. There's definitely NOT enough keyboard/mouse room (keyboard is on top of half my mouse pad). I couldn't decide on a desk either (too many to choose from) so I stuck with this one in the mean time.

Once I get a bigger desk, I'll be adding a second and third monitor and possibly mount the second GFX in SLI. G-Sync monitors are pretty expensive so I'm not sure what monitor I'll get yet.

The LED's are full RGB now I can switch them to breathing mode or rainbow mode, etc.

I didn't buy it. I had a Windows 8 Pro key and I was able to use it to activate Windows 10 Pro. Not sure how but it worked.

One day I will brave solid state hd. I use to go for lights in the case when I was younger but now I just go for light keyboards and mice.

nice setup. it should last you a few years.
    Have fun always

I knew I wasn't going to get the KabyLake. It's a minor upgrade and I knew it won't make much of a difference other than in TDP. For that reason, I didn't bother waiting. As for the GTX 1080TI, I guessed that it wouldn't come. Was right.

True but I'd have had to hold out on all the deals I was getting at the time. I didn't just buy all the parts in the Canadian market. I bought some in the US and now that my dollar has dropped again and economy has worsened, I think it was the best idea that I didn't hold out for Ryzen.

If I do build again any time this year, then I would of course hold out. Prior to that, I didn't have a desktop.

Damn. When I build my pc I'm going to have transparent casing like that. I've seen a few pc's with it and it looks so nice. Unfortunately building a pc takes quite a bit of money I don't have.
