    Default Little Baby Bird Found...help

Hey, I was busy scripting when my fiancee Laura ran inside. She quickly urged me to run out to her car as fast as possible. When I got there, there was a small, nearly full feathered, little sparling on her floor bird. She said she had found It on the road by walmart and saved it from being run over.

Well, I didn't know what to do with it, and neither did she, so we went outside and tried to teach it how to fly. (it learned to fall gracefully) and then we called all of our freinds for advice, none had any.

A few hours went by and I noticed TONS of tinny little mites crawling all over the poor thing. Like, thousands. I knew this was bad so immidiatly began calling veternarian services for advice, they were all busy, or didn't treat birds.

I finally decided to go online and got a decent education on what needed to be done. I rushed to walmart looking for a nest, but there wasn't one anywhere in sight. Then we went and bought the ingrediants we needed. Grapes to hydrate it, cat food and tums to combine into food, 5% sevin dust to take care of the mites, etc.

Well, it's about 12 midnight when we get back, the bird isn't looking to good (they are suposed to be fed every hour or so) and he is still covered with mites that bite! (yes, me too)

He won't wake up long enought to see that I have food. He is acting VERY weak, and I am very afraid I'm going to loose him.

PLEASE I don't care what god you pray to, just please, send your good thoughts his way.

I know I shouldn't really care so much about 1 little bird, but I just can't stand to let it go, and it's really yearing at me.

i know this is going to sound mean.. but let it die... if it couldnt be taught to fly... then it isnt meant to survive... it is the survival of the fitest and he isnt one of them... let mother nature be how its suppost to be...

its to young to already know how to fly. This isnt his fault, he deseved a chance. IUm about to try force feeding.

EDIT: Yeah, this bird is not yet at the flying stage in its life. So it's failure to learn how to fly was mainly due to it's body not being adequetly equipped yet. I don't even think it's had it's first molt yet.

He is not looking good. I feel it's my fault for not having of know what to do with him immidiatly. He is sleeping next to me atm. The sevin dust has gotten rid of the mites, which is very good. But he is VERY weak. We have tried to contact the authorities who are trained to handle this. The devils won't call us back.

After reading up some more, we decided that if we didn't force feed it now, it would surly die.
We were able to get a few bits of food down his throught I think.

His eyes were closed while we were doing this.

You guys are praying or wishing luck hard enough. :P

Well depending on how old the little bird is you could always force feed using a dropper with liquified food. Try to keep him warm like if he was in his nest with the mother bird? i'll look up some stuff to try and help you out too.

    Default It is finished

    Ok, here the update.

I got in contact with the authorities. The irected my to a woman who takes care of birds like there, he said she does about 5000 a year! Anyhows, after a very rough parting, we left the bird with her. She was very confident that it would be fine. It turned out to be some kind of semi rare bird, that is illigal to keep as a pet. She is trained, and will realse him to the wild where he will be happier.

    I miss him.

Edit: Here are some good links that you should read BEFORE
you find yourself in this predicament.

It's not the end that i fear with each breath,
