Default Problem with autoing on my lap top..

Well, like most lap tops, whenever you close the lid of it, it logs you off, not allowing you to auto anymore.

So I was wondering, is there any way to close your lid and make it so it doesn't log off the computer?

And also, is there a way to turn off my monitor for my lap top? Because the only way I've found to turn off the monitor is by closing the lid.. which logs off the computer

This would really help out my autoing if somebody could help me. So if you have any ideas/suggestions, please post them!

    Thanks.

    If I remember right...
Desktop -> Right click -> Properties -> Screen Saver tab -> "Power..." button -> Advanced tab -> Change the first drop down box to "Do nothing".
That should do it, but I sometimes have problems with it, like the screen stays black until I reboot. Maybe that's just me though.

Awesome!! This is what happens when I click 'Power' though

I get a pop up saying:

Warning: To adjust power management settings, close Microsoft Power Options and use Toshiba Power Management.

I click ok and then it brings me to the screen where I can go to wherever you told me to, but I can't edit anything..

Any idea on how to "close Microsoft Power Options and use Toshiba Power Management"?

    Thanks a lot!

    I found this
I downloaded the Toshiba Power Management from the Toshiba website and
reinstalled it. That seemed to work.
    http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/t...ngdgli.0&ct=DL
Alarmingly, the first time I ran it it uninstalled TPM. So, I had to
run it twice. But, my monitor is finally working at full power, and
    staying on.
    And this
OK I am sitting in front of a toshiba equium running XP Home edition,

Here is what I have done:-

First of all open up the control panel.

You should see an icon for toshiba power saver. This is where you can configure your power settings.

Secondly there is an icon in control panel for power options. If you go into this under the power scheme tab, there is a drop down list of all available power options. Select the toshiba option and this will ensure that your settings in the toshiba console will be used.

Hope this helps, if you need clarification please let me know : -)
Not sure if they'll help. To find them I Google'd "close Microsoft Power Options"
