Dude I love the OS info on the right...I wish XP had that because I don't like running Everest, CPU-Z, and Speedfan to find it

im using Conky which is a scriptable info panel thats transparent so it shows ur background and stuff. Theres a massive list of vars you can add to it and it can even execuette ruby, perl, pecl scripts from it to show info on the desktop . i was using a ruby script to display rss feeds and weather but i found better ways to do it via gDesklets which is the widget thing. The other benefit of linux is multipul desktops which can be see here as i rotate them

Multiple desktops? Does that mean you can auto on one desktop while doing stuff on the other?

Unfort SCAR wont work in Linux so i can no longer auto on this comp. It is my notebook which i use mainly for Web Dev and PHP progrmming. With the multi desktops i can open various apps in different desktops so i dont have a whole bunch of windows open cluttering the desktop. I could open like a Text Editor in one, then a browser in the other and instead of closing windows to switch just roll the desktop to it.

Yay for extremely cluttered desktops! (will post my other one in a day or two; it's in far better condition than this)

PS: Could someone tell me where to find beryl-compatible drivers for a nvidia geforce 6600 (pci-e)

Here's mine guys, 4 year old comp, but boots in less then 90 seconds

Unfortunately I had to censor some stuff, or I will get huge problems (which I don't want).
Oh, and if anyone knows a better bg, please tell me.

I used to have Linux with Beryll btw, but my poor gfx card couldnt handle Beryll (only two windows, more and it crashed).
I made a new script, check it out!.

Markus, I like the 'A Dreamy World' series of wallpapers, also lol @ all the SCAR 1.0X installers you have

Dankness, is that a custom conky script or a premade one?

its just a hackery of multipul scripts i looked at lol... I had to adjust it to show my CPU 2 for the dual core cpu and temp sensors which my laptop barely supports. Im still messing with the ruby scripts it can execeutte but im not big into ruby scripting.

I have this weird thing where it bothers me when I have too many unused icons on the desktop, so I'm constantly program installers after installing, running disk cleaners, etc

Dankness, I have ubuntu 6.10 and it only has 2 desktops, yours seems like it has four (a cube?). Is it a beryl thing? Your desktop looks more like kubuntu but that uses KDE desktop enviroment.

I would like to know where you got the mac skins and stuff, and the desktop overlay (Computer stats). I'm pretty new to linux, but found it is faster than windows.

OK, I haven't changed the BG yet...I've had this computer around 3-4 months or so. Anyway, here she is. PS: You get to see part of one of my playlists on iTunes

Those 2 windows in the corner are AIM, and there's nothing behind the iTunes window...I SWEAR.

There should be a setting somewhere for the amount of desktops in edgy as my media server runs edgy and it has 4 also. But i am also using beryl to make the cube or skydome. Its a GNOME desktop thou so still ubuntu, i havent really played with KDE that much honestly, i use ubuntu for my notebook and my old desktop runs as a headless xubuntu machine which i use mostly for bittorrent downloads and music playing.

You can find mac skins at gnome-look.org and the icons are a mix from devantart just search for OSX in deventart and you;'ll finnd plenty,

The overlay is conky just search the ubuntuforums for info on installing it. was just a

    suda apt-get conky

or something if i remeber properly.

I'm using a 5 year old computer (family computer) it's loaded with so much crap it takes 3 minutes from the time you turn it on to the time you're logged into MSN.

Anyways, this is just my user account, but I still only have like 512mb ram or some crap. Windows XP sucks really bad, never get it!

And, no, I don't use everything you see!

Please, I'm thinking about buying myself a new computer, any suggestions?
