Default Help Me Set Up Xbox Live Please!

Ok the other day my xbox live was working this is going to be confusing to explain. I am connecting my xbox to my computer then my computer uses a wireless thing to connect to the gateway downstairs. i plug my xbox ethernet cable into my xbox and the ethernet port in my computer but nothing happens, i go on test connection and it comfirms the ethernet wire is plugged in but then fails at the ip but.

    Heres what it says:

your consle was unable to negotiate a lease with your DHCP server.Make sure the addreses are avalilable on your server hepl please.

Unplug your modem and replug it. Do the same with the router if the modem did not work.

My PS2 does the same thing once and a while and that usually fixes it.

Plugging your xBox into your computer would do nothing, to my knowledge.
Plugging your xBox into your Router is what you are meant to do, to my knowledge.
