Ok well first of all fuck you all who go with XP. If you open up your eyes you will realize that you computer doesn't excede the recomended computer specs (you wana allways be beyond because the recomended is allways bare minimum) My friend has a falcon nw computer and to all you fps gamers you know what kind of company that is. He has vista ultamite 64bit and has never had 1 single error. If you get vista at least have a dual procesor, a good graphics card (nvidia series 7 or better), and at least 2 gigs of ram and you will actually enjoy it a lot more then vista

I completely agree with you, I'm running intel core 2 duo with 2 gigs of ram and a nvidia 8400. Of course a new operating system is gonna take new technology so stop bitching about vista with your computer that can barely take the runescape min requirements.

I agree with guyer^^^^ I had a look at the vista screenshot when it was first released and I was like "WTF WHERE IS THE SCREEN????" lol. It was filled with junk and the theme itself makes my eyes water lol....

So I would choose and recomend XP

FEAR, I think he meant vista premium.

Somebody tell me, can you run counter-strike: source on Vista, do other games run well on Vista, does Vista have good drivers?

I think the answer will be no.

Will the things I'm doing and running on XP run as good as on Vista? I don't think so, if I buy a new computer, it most likely has a Vista, so do I need to dl/ buy a new Xp? :8

I am doing programing for a living and have a very high end computer. I am using vista x64 simply because all the extra suport I get. I have only had blue screen 4 times and it was my bad that they came (Huge memory leaks)

Well just so I can feel proud heres my pc.

    Core 2 quad 2,66 ghz.
8 GB ram (only shows 7,2 GB, but Windows is Windows)
    2 x 8800GT (Running SLI technology)

And have some very big fans too:
2 x 300mm (I think they are 300 mm if not they are even bigger.)
    3 x 150 mm
And a HUGE CPU fan :P

With this pc everything runs smooth...I run crysis with over 70 fps (its down on 50 sometimes when I nuke the whole screen down with the TAC gun)

if your hard disk drive has no important files on it, then you can buy vista, format the C drive and install xp pro on it, if you wish, and get rid of vista

    Why?? There is many reasons:
Because I write programs for windows platform...
Because I use Visual Studio 2008...(Don't work in linux and other OS's.)
Because I write in D3D10 and its not supported fully in other OS's (Yeah I know about the program that lets XP do DX 10, but you loose extremely much FPS)

And I have debian also on it (remote hard drive) Use it as dedicated server when I am on holiday and such...(Running everything from CSS to BattleField 2142 and Crysis servers...)

but vista is such a ram hog, uses lots of resources and i feel is a simplified xp for dummies (no offence), just has nice gui and flashy stuff

Yeah it sucks RAM. I totaly agree with that.

I use vista ultimate x64 and only the OS itself sucks 2 gig ram. I only use Vista for DX 10 and for the great "team" applications. It let you easily work in teams when developing something.

Yeah vista is also simplified, thats good for newbie users...But I have no problems with that it is simplified...

    thats opinion :P

They make one more business themed, then one for average users.

ME and Vista are for average users.
2000 and XP are more business themed.

I have vista on 2 computers, and nothing has gone wrong. More goes wrong with my XP...

I prefer XP because it is much faster and more conveniant. But in a few years (or sooner) I will be switching to Vista.
