Well, to our two newest members of the thread, the answers to both of those questions lie in the Dev. Diary, which Horsechaser points out was likely largely taken off of this thread.
The code isn't the problem, but Andrew feared escalations of the sophistication of the RWT's macro's to the point that Jagex could no longer detect them. The 'source' of the problem that people keep talking about is what Jagex is going after. That is, the ability to buy.
As long as the ability to buy gold online exists, RWT's will find a way, and players will put forth their credit card information (which is apparently stolen btw).
The root of the problem is now gone, and the theory is that the Bots and RWT's as well as the Keyloggers and every other major rulebreaker will follow the Pkers to another MMO![]()
In short, bots are easy to remake, and they're free since they're being payed for by stolen credit cards anyway. It doesn't matter how good Jagex's detection system is, it'll never be fast enough for RWT's to not make a profit. Maybe the drastic measures are warranted, and maybe they're not. But at the moment, we have no choice but to wait and see.
That's all the time I have. I actually have to study tomorrow, so I really hope there's another mod in here cleaning stuff up![]()
'Night all and that was fun as always![]()
