a way jagex could have avoided the updates and still gotten rid of RWT

a way jagex could have avoided the updates and still gotten rid of RWT is:

Get more lawyers and sue the companies that sell items. They probably haven’t done ths because the don’t really have a good reason to (one that would will a trial). They could do what the u.s. did for illicit drugs. They tax the items being sold by making it so you can only sell their items with a pass for every for ... lets say $1000 they sell. Then they just make the passes impossible to get, and sue everyone for tax evasion

they would make money, get rid of the problem of RWT, and not lose millions in discontinued membership.

OR they could just do what they did and loose a few thousand people out of 1 million members who pay $5 a month which would be WAY WAY cheaper then hiring a bunch of lawyers. And you second option, first they can't do that because they are not the government, two even if they were the government they wouldn't have enough international power to enforce that in all countries.

or you would have to have a combat lvl of 65 to trade higher 3k per 15 minutes. By then unless you are using a chicken fighter you would get banned. Therefor all srl just use chicken killers. They sell G.E 4 ea. I made 2m from this. And then main selling would be easy.

If anyone got the above sentence, Please say you understood.

It was intelligent for them to have done their updates

In some ways yes, in others no.
They could have gone about doing it in a way that made less collateral damage.
People were far happier with pking even if they had to deal with RWT and autoing. Most people didn't really care about RWT.
