    how do i select the frame it uses as an icon for a video

    hm? why? for youtube or what? cause they choose it them selves. but if you mean for your own comp thumb nails, i think default is first frame, and i doubt you can change it. and no real reason to. but i may beable to help given you give a little bit more, detail.

    for my own personal use, the frame it chose isn't good
    i can only figure out how to change the album picture on music

    well, if your the author of the video, i do believe you coud fix the codex to make said frame thumb nail, but if you didn't make them, i doubt you can, hope you can survive reading the files names still. hehe also if your the one making the videos just make the virst split second what ever you want it to show.
