    Default Using SCAR on Vista!

You have came to this thread obviously because SCAR is not working on your system. So, here is how to get it working.

Here are some steps to take into running SCAR on Vista:
    1. Right Click SCAR's icon shortcut.
    2. Click on Properties.
    3. Click the Compatibility tab.
    4. Select the compatibility mode to Windows XP.

If that does not work, try this:
    1. Click on the START menu button.
    2. Find and click on Control Panel.
    3. Find and click on Programs.
    4. Click on Use an older program with this version of Windows.
    5. Follow the instructions directed by the Wizard.

And if that does not work, try this one (Originally posted by WhoCares357):
    1. Go to the Control Panel. (Make sure Control Panel Home is bolded on the left)
    2. Click on User Accounts and Family Safety (top right).
    3. Click on User Accounts (top).
    4. Click on Turn User Account Control on or off (bottom).
    5. Uncheck the box besides "User User Account Control..."
    6. Click OK.
    7. Restart the computer if required.

After doing these methods, you might get the Windows Security Alert, just press Continue and you'll be fine.

After doing those, Hopefully SCAR will work on your system.

Also if you have ZoneAlarm on your system as well it might block SCAR. Here is how to unblock it.
    1. Open ZoneAlarm via the Tray Icon.
    2. Go to Program Control and select the Programs tab.
    3. Find "scar.exe" and change it's trust level to Super.
    4. Have a green tick in each of boxes so SCAR has any right to access the internet.
    5. Close ZoneAlarm.

If none of those steps above work, check out these threads below:

If those links above did not provide you any help, then you absolutely cannot run SCAR on your machine.

    Enjoy

It worked for me on Vista. Do you have any other firewalls installed on your computer?

Most problems occur because of the User Account Control. You can disable it if you're the admin on the computer.

    6. Click OK.
    7. Restart the computer.

You might get that little "Windows Security Alerts" icon on the bottom. It will tell you that you should turn your User Account Control on. Just ignore it.

    You're done!

Dunno, probably the way some programs are coded and Vista can't recognise it.

Not necessarily. In some programs, there are compatibility issues which require something other than the Run as Administrator command

I personally hate vista. Sure it looks pretty and w/e but you cant run anything on it. Half the stuff out there right now isnt compatible to it. I can't use the USB's I have with it. But I think the most annoying thing is that it asks you permision for everything...

Great advice - I hated the little alert telling me that my security settings needed fixing so I just turned off the alert in Control Panel/ Security. Hope that helps
