Default Good deals on computer parts

I usually try to keep track of prices on computer components like RAM, hard drives, CPU's cases, power supplies, motherboards, etc. I have assembled about 5 computers in my life, and I have been able to build them relatively cheaply by buying individual components as they go on sale.

I will post new deals in this thread as I find them, for anyone interested in buying computer parts. In addition to serving as a place to post good deals that come up, it may serve as a useful reference to see if something you want to purchase was on sale for less before. As a general rule, prices tend to go down on computer components, and if something was selling for a low price before, it will return to that low level or lower at some point in the future.

Today I wanted to post a pretty good deal on some hard drives. Fry's is selling PATA/IDE 320 Gb Seagate hard drives for $60 with free shipping.

    http://shop4.outpost.com/product/5321968

There is also a SATA version for $5 more.

    http://shop4.outpost.com/product/5296757

One benefit of buying Seagate drives over some of the other brands is that they have 5 year warranties, where some others will only have 1 year or 3 year warraties.

These are for retail boxed hard drives, so you get screws, cables, and initialization software to help you get it up and running.

If you want to spend more for more space, there are good deals on 500 Gb drives as well.

    Today only.

Mainly Fatwallet, but SD is good too.

I definitely suggest that if people are looking for good deals on stuff that they check one or both of those websites regularly.

Haha, I've never used FatWallet, but slickdeals is amazing. Got over a GB of RAM for a nice price and 2.4GHz processor for like ...three hundred dollars I think.

Thanks for the tip, just ordered a couple 320s.

Newegg has some good memory deals atm, like 2gbs for $30, and not the crappy brands.

Edit: after rebate, but even before its not bad.

The best ones now are probably the Dells mentioned in JackLKrawl's first link.

Here is a SATA DVD burner for $28 and free shipping from Newegg. It's OEM, so you need to have your own cables and DVD burning software.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827151153

There is also a PATA one for $25. It charges shipping, but there is a free shipping code EMCABCCAF that may work. Again, OEM so you need your own cables and software.

*Cries and wishes his $350 gift card was for Newegg instead of Tigerdirect*

After reading through this thread, I think I'm going to have to bookmark both Fatwallet and Slickdeals

    Thanks you!

I really would rather just use Newegg than FW or SD, simply because it's so dependable. Sometimes it's worth the extra penny to know you are getting a product shipped fast, safe, good-quality and low-priced. Newegg is a company that has all those qualities, and honestly, I just can't argue against it.

Also, they now have free shipping on a different SATA DVD burner. $29 shipped.

And the IDE version is a little cheaper at $26 shipped.

And another. This time it's a Free after $30 Rebate AGP video card.

Yes, it sucks, but it would be a step up for anyone with integrated graphics. Plus it has S-video out if you want to use it on your TV or something.

If you don't have a Fry's nearby, you'll have to pay shipping.
