    Default Great sound editing program

    I use Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) which is a free.

    Some Uses:

    I use it to get a 20second clip of a song and then send it to my phone through bluetooth to get free custom ringtones.

    I also use it to convert files(it even converts some protected files)

    I also use it to record the sound that comes through my speakers.(so you can get one of those new tracks on your comptuer that you normally only can listen to through a flash player)

    I use this to make my ringtones. And one of my friends used it to annoy everyone in physics class by generating a high frequency squeal. It was awesome.

    we've just used this for IT where I go to create a sound clip for a radio advertisement.
    It's a great programme and it's very simple to use.
    You can edit songs to put extra little bits in.
    My friend is addicted to bass.. He uses this to just add more bass into every song he listens to.
    I use it for custom ringtones aswel

    It can cut mp3s very easily and with great precision. I really admire how these developers have been able to push freeware DAW apps further than most. Also, if you're downloading mp3 sets, alot of them come with a .cue file. If it does, use Musicuter It can automatically cut and rename the individual tracks of the mp3 based on the .cue file.

    There are quite a few, depending on your level of comfort with such apps. Simplest is Sony Acid Pro. Oh and BTW try to get your mac back, the pwn at music production ;
