Default Change your I.P in less then 3 mins

Hey everyone me again with another Computer tut.

Now you want to change your ip address but dont want to download something read below

Step 1. Click on "Start" in the bottom left hand corner of screen
    Step 2. Click on "Run"
Step 3. Type in "command" and hit ok

You should now be at a Prompt screen.

Step 4. Type "ipconfig /release" just like that, and hit "enter"
Step 5. Type "exit" and leave the prompt
Step 6. Right-click on "Network Places" or "My Network Places" on your desktop.
    Step 7. Click on "properties"

You should now be on a screen with something titled "Local Area Connection", or something close to that, and, if you have a network hooked up, all of your other networks.

Step 8. Right click on "Local Area Connection" and click "properties"
Step 9. Double-click on the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" from the list under the "General" tab
Step 10. Click on "Use the following IP address" under the "General" tab
Step 11. Create an IP address (It doesn't matter what it is. I just type 1 and 2 until i fill the area up).
Step 12. Press "Tab" and it should automatically fill in the "Subnet Mask" section with default numbers.
Step 13. Hit the "Ok" button here
Step 14. Hit the "Ok" button again

You should now be back to the "Local Area Connection" screen.

Step 15. Right-click back on "Local Area Connection" and go to properties again.
Step 16. Go back to the "TCP/IP" settings
Step 17. This time, select "Obtain an IP address automatically"
    Step 18. Hit "Ok"
    Step 19. Hit "Ok" again
Step 20. You now have a new IP address

This only changes your dynamic IP address, not your ISP/IP address. If you plan on hacking a website with this trick be extremely careful, because if they try a little, they can trace it back.

Rep Is always Appreciated Post question here

This may not work for all internet providers and setups since some people are behind routers and such. I found if I needed a new IP with Comcast, I generally have to unplug my modem(power it off) for around an hour or maybe over night and it will usually change. If you have DSL your method is great though. Rep 4 u.

I'm pretty sure you need a dynamic ip to do this... cause I have tried probably 35 times to change my static IP... Good tut though...

    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew

For some reason... that always worked for me, and is much quicker. I think it only works on dynamic ip's though.

    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew

this will not get u unbanned from a site, but the OP guide actually does successfully do this.

Yes, you'll need a dynamic IP to make this work. Static is just what it sounds like.
Some addresses look like static but in reality they are just dynamic ip's which are locked to your computer's / Modems MAC address, if you unplug the computer / modem and wait for any where from 10min to 24h and you'll get a new ip.

Here are other ways to change your ip but could restrict your speed.

    1. Tor : This is a program that connects you to several different proxy's trying to make you as anonymous as possible, but usually at the cost of speed.

    http://www.torproject.org/

    2. Regular proxy's : By changing the settings in your web browser you can access a proxy giving you a different ip address. This also could impair your speed, finding the a proxy that is fast could be hard but worth it.

    Firefox : Tools -> Settings -> Advanced -> Network -> Connections(Settings)

    IE7 : Tools -> Internet settings -> Connections -> LAN Network

    Here are some lists.

    http://www.samair.ru/proxy/
    http://www.proxy4free.com/

    3. Web page proxy's : With this you use a web page to connect to other web pages, it works like a regular proxy but without the settings. There are some problems running Java through these types of sites, RS might not work.(More times then not)

I've seen this on the tube before, doesn't work for people with routers nor with static IP's.

This works ONLY if you have no router, and with a few ISPs.

Most houses now use a router, so this would only cause your LAN (Local Area Network) IP to be renewed, most likely to the same IP.

Also, a faster way to do this is instead of typing ipconfig /release, typing ipconfig /renew (and skipping the rest of the steps)

To change your WAN (Wide Area Network) IP, you should power down your modem for a few hours, then power it back up. Generally, this will cause your ISP to issue you a new IP.

You should not use this method if you plan on doing anything that you want to be kept a secret.

If you wish to change your apparent IP, you should proxy into sites. One of the best proxy programs is the Vidalia Bundle (http://vidalia-project.net/download.php), which includes two pieces of software. It allows you to appear as another IP, and allows you to quickly and quietly swap your IP. However, if you happen to get an overseas IP, your connection will suffer. Plus, you need to configure your browser to use a proxy.
If I see you autoing with level 3/default clothes/crap name I WILL report you. Auto Correctly. - put this in your sig
