and I live in Montana, it isn't notorious for being hot, but it often gets well above 100 here, and my computer doesn't heat up to much

For me it went like this:

My parents got angry when I left my computer on, they didnt have anykind of real reason for it. Then I just left it on every night, and now my computer is on 24/7 and they dont say anything.

    Use eggcartons!

Or surround it with lead plating..
The jealous temper of mankind, ever more disposed to censure than
to praise the work of others, has constantly made the pursuit of new
methods and systems no less perilous than the search after unknown
    lands and seas.

Or srround it with layers of lead plating and egg cartons until evena nuclear strike cannot get through it o.O.

I also have the sma eproblem. But, since the main router is controlled at my parents bedroom, and they switch it off every night, I cannot really do much. They have very, vewwy sensitive ears.

i would also go for the silent fan option...it is the best option

if u soundproof it, it will just get hotter , and if u take out the fan completely, it will also get hotter.
or, i have attatched a switch to my case fan (the loud one) so that it can be turned off at night when the surrounding temprature has dropped and the computer can run almost silently

have you checked for a case fan, or is it just a very loud cpu fan ?

It's just cause my computer isn't all that great, has Vista, and therefore autoing stresses it and the fan needs to work alot to keep it cool.

Anyway, my parents don't care now, so I don't need help with this anymore

Or download Smart Shutdown from Slawdog (or something) and run 3 apps at once.
    Program 1: Stand-by, 9.30 PM
    Program 2: Wake up, 0.00
    Program 3: Shutdown, 7.00 AM

    or something
