    Well, the only thing I see wrong is that there's a way to add a search field to firefox without this addon.

    You go to a search text field and right click and hit something that says "add custom search" and it will add that field to your firefox search.

    But you still did a good job.

    not to ruin the fun or anything, but why not just make a bookmarklet? that way you could just type "ge *item*" in your address bar and it would do the same thing

    because you'd have to type ge?

    i am not aware of any of these alternative methods you guys are recommending. i thought i knew firefox well enough. wouldnt it be harder to program a bookmarklet? (assuming its a book mark with javascript on it)

    @gone fishing
    that only works if the page made one already and then put code on their site to link to it... and they didn't.

    For me hitting Ctrl+L and typing "ge *item*" is a lot easier then having to change which search engine my Ctrl+K search uses, I like to keep it on google.

    are you posting in the right place? and yes it is possible but what, where and how do you want to display it.

    thanks hermpie.

    @bob
    can you get me some examples of what you mean, honestly ive never heard of what you want to do. even if i did make such a bookmarklet then i wouldnt make it public since i would have to give instructions on how to use it. ive used bookmarklets (clipperz) but they dont search.

    actually the game has a protection built in to GE for that same reason. GE prices never drop below the price of high alch. we getting a bit of topic here so...

    on the mycroft project site there is a form that generates the code for you. in most cases its quite simple to make it, given that you know what GET and POST are. its a matter of reverse engineering the message that's sent to the search engine.

    UPDATE: i just found out that firefox had this functionality. it allows you to do just that tipe the key word in this case ge and the terms.
