Haha, something as controversial as this probably shouldn't be talked about on SRL, but you guys need to know about this.
Basically, as you will see in the video posted below, an "unorganized organization" has declared war on the Church of Scientology. You can read up on that, but I won't get too detailed - a good comparision I found was with the MAFIA. They call themselves a religion while they're actually a cult(they worship no god), and are banned in Europe, but anyway, back on topic.
Anonymous is probably one of the most beautiful things that will ever be on the internet. Yes, more beautiful than the exploding whale. Anonymous sticks out because it has a large number of highly skilled hackers, but it also includes a lot of everyday people. Generally, they use computer-generated voices, even though there are certainly a lot of fakes. However, if you are going to choose to try and sort out legitimate information, do not look on FOX or anything else mainstream. You'd be better off reading from forums.
In January, they managed to DDoS a ton of Scientologist servers, and kept them off for weeks. They haven't done much recently, but this is definitely entertaining and worth keeping an eye on.

    Wow.

You are really, really late. The scientology protests happened over a month ago.

Besides, I'm pretty sure that most people on this forum know about Anonymous, or otherwise most commonly called "4chan" or "/b/". Anonymous is the life of the inter(webz)net.

So 4chan is this "anonymous"? I don't see how they're a bunch of hackers. My IQ falls by the second when I'm on that site.

Maybe, maybe not. I just saw that there were no posts or threads about Anonymous. I think most of the people here are Dutch anyway?
And you're also wrong about the protests occurring a month ago. They just held one for Hubbard's birthday...

Anonymous isn't exactly a tasteful society of people. Hence, most people don't discuss them or relate to them (Unless the forum is filled with tards)

If I imagine Anonymous in an American (USA) movie, the picture I get in my mind is "Houston, we have a problem." or "We are in deep shit."

Is Scientology a mix of religion and science?

Scientology is the belief that aliens left us on Earth as a "science experiment" and that we must worship them to be rescued from this hell hole. Pretty much the entire scientific community hates them as it gives a bad name to science and they should probably be called alientology followers (or something similar) IMO.

Anyway, I personally really don't care. I hate Scientology, but the followers have left me alone this far so it's all good until then

Scientology is a cult, it's not a mix of anything but pathetic and very pathetic. Basically, the CULTISTS believe that they are the incarnations of the ghosts remaining from the hydrogen bombed citizens of the Galactic Confederacy. They believe Xenu was their dictator, and all this crazy stuff.
They claim that every religion came from the same place, and that you can be of their religion and your own without confliction. BS. They get the tax exemption Churches because of blackmailing and sueing, but no court has ever named Scientology a religion.

What have they done that is "distasteful"? All that I have seen are peaceful protests against the evil that is Scientology.

They hacked scientology sites like crazy back in january, and brought many of them down for days...which is mildly humorous, but at the same time somewhat excessive. They public outcry at the tactics forced them to move towards the peaceful protests they do now

I would prefer taking down websites to assassination attempts or bombings any day.

The Church of Scientology DoS'd for two years. "Rogue" Anonymous hacked for two weeks. Completely different.

I remember watching people I knew go to the Church of Scientology a state over in PA. They came back shortly after because of difficulties surrounding the situation of being on the "private" grounds.
