Bet you if you retook the IQ test you'd get 160

Anyone know exactly how often someone gets 160+ on real IQ tests? I have a feeling it's not very often...

EDIT: BenLand, run for president, you'd be as good as the best

And OMG! Wow, amazing how even 130 makes you seem like you completed college with a Ph.D...

According to the next one, BenLand should be a Nobel Prize Winner

I took that test about three years ago now (freshman year in highschool) so idk. I wan under the impression that IQ does not change much with education or age, as reflected by the "common sense" questions they ask on the tests. I guess a 1 point shift might be possible however Also, I love how they put Lincoln in the 150-160 catagory, Descartes below Newton, and Shakesphear at the very top :

Very much doubt at that, does it affect your IQ, the person may be ultimate leet in programming, but in the other hand, he may have no idea about real life, how to handle simple things.

And how do you define smart.

?! That you know what war was in 1567, who built Big ben?

I think it's not that. Really, you can't say anything about specific person by knowing his/shes IQ number.

Err.. what (s)he said! lol i reckon that IQ tests aren't how much you know, but how intelligent you are which is pretty much decided when your born.

In most cases, programmers are good at math, since a good bit of it involves math. If they're good at math, that leads me to assume that they're good and many other things too. Tbh I've never seen anyone who's great at one subject and then horrible at everything else (maybe with an exception or two). (Usually) Everyone who is good at one thing is good all-round.

I think of 'smart' as in somebody who would do well in life. Like the questions you mentioned, knowing or not knowing that wouldn't really affect how you do in life, unless you were looking to become a history teacher, or....well you get the idea. Also, to me, someone who is 'smart' knows how to find an answer when you don't know it, and has good decision-making skills.

EDIT: And with IQ changing/not changing, wouldn't it increase with as long as you're still receiving education? Or do the tests get harder as you grow older, so you MUST receive education to keep your IQ at the same level? I think I'll go read up on Wikipedia...

    EDIT:

Wouldn't it be the opposite? As Wizzup said? Having good grades doesn't show how smart you are, you could just spend a lot of time on homework and stuff making sure it's right. Anyway, on a real test you might get around 140 (I got 124 on IQtest.com and a 132 on an official), so maybe you didn't lie on the poll Then again, IQtest.com could go either way, a bit above or a bit below...Meh.

EDIT: Maybe possibly could a mod remove the poll and then make a new one as a 'public poll'? B/c atm the poll means nothing
well im not just talking about homework in general ive known people who've gotten like average scores (125-135) who get 5s on AP Tests because they study non-stop.

Oh ya btw for the poll thing, I just didnt want to seem like a liar.

Couldn't find much on Wiki... Here's some mildly interesting stuff -

Most IQ tests include items from various domains, such as short-term memory, verbal knowledge, spatial visualization, and perceptual speed.

An individual's IQ score may or may not be stable over the course of the individual's lifetime.
OMG! BenLand is one of the smartest people in the world! (according to this anyway ) And Hobbit is close.

In 1926, psychologist Dr. Catherine Morris Cox - who had been assisted by Dr. Lewis M. Terman, Dr. Florence L. Goodenaugh, and Dr. Kate Gordon - published a study “of the most eminent men and women” who had lived between 1450 and 1850 to estimate what their IQs might have been. * 130 - Sir Francis Drake

Also, see Wikipedia’s list of Universal Genius (Polymaths).
Sweet I have a higher IQ than Ulysses S. Grant

EDIT: This is the site I got it from - http://onemansblog.com/2007/11/08/th...he-highest-iq/

It claims to have a fairly accurate online IQ test, but it's 40 minutes long O_o

EDIT: Wow...Look at this about the guy who's first on the list....

Thus, the person who has the highest IQ is a South Korean by the name of Kim Oong Yong, holding an Guiness Record of an IQ of 210. He is currently a professor at a provincial college in Korea and has a degree in civic engineering. He learned calculus at 3, spoke several languages at 4, and graduated from Colorado State University with a PhD in physics before he turned 15.
EDIT: Ah, here's how age affects your score

The IQ is scored differently in adults and kids; when you're a child there is a ratio taken between your mental age and actual age, whereas in adults you are measured against the general populations IQ distribution.

Well, that is not entirely true, a characteristic of high IQ is being able to solve problems and think ideas through before having to implement them, thus a very proficient programmer is more likely to have a high IQ. However, IQ and Knowledge do not correlate at all, hence why an IQ test does not contain any specific information (beyond what is considered to be common knowledge, e.g. you have five fingers on each hand)..

Yes, I imagine that Korean guy was pretty smart -- if those tests weren't somehow rigged. Even if they weren't theres always a way someone else will be better than him some way.

Its like we have this one person in my class that is one math grade ahead of everybody. Pretty annoying about it too until I pointed out the fact that all math is is practically 'remembering'.

Nice Yeah, now I'm almost positive no online IQ Test is too accurate - I scored a 120 on the IQTest.com one (132 official), yet my SAT scores were higher than yours (by about 30-40 points each subject), and my grades are about the same (Atm first year in high school I have a lowest grade of A- and a highest of A+), and we're nearly the exact same age too (2 months difference).

What exactly do you mean by

Allso i Was in Year 9
But i Was Able to Leave' i Was Moved to Year 11 And i Said There Work Was Easy Then After a Cuple Weeks Etc i Was Able to Leave.
You were in 9th Grade, then they moved you up to 11th Grade, then they just let you leave high school and now you're in college

Internet tests = Fail results. I have a quick iq. test for you:

Do you believe those internet iq tests are even remotely accurate?

    Yes/No

If you answered yes, I'm afraid your iq. is under 75. GG, you lose.

E: And also to move on with this thread... Yeah, i have an iq of 750 and when i was in 2nd grade I was moved to the 26th grade and now I'm the master of everything and nothing is hard for my superior brains.
