    Default faith healers

this was a topic a few pages back, but i found it interesting and the topic was dead so ill bring it back.

personally, i was in church and i saw the guest speaker through Gods will, get a little girl who was deaf in her left ear. he gave her hearing in that ear again. i saw this with my one 2 eyes.

If you believe in God, he tells you to beware of false prophets. Could the girls' family not have been paid? Just tell the girl to act deaf, 'heal' her, walah, miracle.
The jealous temper of mankind, ever more disposed to censure than
to praise the work of others, has constantly made the pursuit of new
methods and systems no less perilous than the search after unknown
    lands and seas.

she was about 9. he never claimed to be a prophet...
he healed her through Gods will. All we are, is tools for Gods will. If you dont want to believe me dont

God works through people all the time, I was witness to this as well. We were all praying and the pastor said that there was someone with some kind of pain, something that had been injured. A lady came up crying and said that it was her and she had been healed. This church was too small for them to do something where they payed her or something...

    google for the Placebo Effect.

similar things have happened with no reference to religion,
once there was a guy with onion-sized tumours on his arms, he had about 6 months to live,
he read in the paper about a new drug which cures it, he went to his doctor to ask for this drug,
however, unknowing to the patient, this drug was proven to not work, the doctor gave him the drug anyway, knowing it didn't work

after 2 weeks of this treatment, the tumours disappeared!

soon the guy found out about the drug he took, and how it didn't work, his tumours returned,
he goes back to his doctor, who gives him another placebo, saying its the updated version of the drug,
    the tumours disappeared again,

later, the guy found out about the placebo, his tumours came back, and he died.

my point is, the placebo effect is very powerful, do not underestimate it, and certainly don't give credit to God,
this medicine happens only in your mind.

faith healers do more harm then good, many of them tell us to stop using condoms, they tell diabetic people to throw away their insulin, they tell people to stop going to doctors and to put their faith in God.

of course, the people who believe them are very likely to die,
faith healers use the classic defense, they say "This person did not have enough faith"

Why would they say to stop using condoms? Religious people prefer abstinence but they don't like unwanted pregnancies either... For those that do not believe in God, faith is no ordinary placebo, it is not a placebo at all. Many Christians in the USSR were saved for unknown reasons and by unknown forces, people who were burned at the stake didnt burn, and such.

What lol? Can you show my a little evidence of that please. I just hate it when people say random crap and cannot back it up at all. If you have some sort of proof well then good point, but give me something please.

I find it very funny you ask for proof from me but nothing from Yakman, for all you know he could have made that story about the placebo up... Read Tortured for Christ that book is an autobiography that addresses religious freedom in mainly eastern countries, and has the stories I am talking about in it.

Thanks, I just want to make sure right off nobody throws out **** stories and says that they are true lol.

I didn't ask for proof from Yakman for several reasons:
    1. He is on my side lol, why hurt my own case lol. I know, I know, you all do it to so shhh.
    2. I know placebo and these cases exist. That is why they invented a word for it - placebo.
    3. I have read about placebo cases before so while he may need to show others proof, I do not need to see it .

With all the scrutiny that "Faith Healers" deal with, I find it unlikely that God would use an instance like this to show His work. His will would simply not be in this, because people would spend all their time debating whether or not it was real, and not being in awe of God's modern-day miracle.

(Mind you, I am a Christian. I just don't believe that God works in this way.)

You must consider many facts: No real prophet in Almost 2000 years.

Greed could have led this man to do this. He may want fame.

Unless there were medical records of this little girl proving she was deaf, I don't believe this I believe in God, but why a prophet/miracle worker now, when there has been none in almost 2000 years?

Exactly, placebo or whatever, its most likely a fake. Can we forget about this whole thing? Debating about it will do us no good, as there is likely no proof for either side.ß
