    Default Great idea

just had an Epiphany... I'm going to try to save up as much money as possible...say a few hundred mil and then buyout the grand exchange. For example if i spend 300 mil on feathers at 4 gp ea i will have bought. That would be 750k feathers.

Heres the kicker...we get loads of scar players to buyout all the feathers on the grand exchange at 4 gp...Then sell them back at 5 gp rolling in profits. Feathers were just an example, and may not be the best item to do this on, but can you imagine if scar single handely dominates the sell of an item like that?

Also say we buyout all the feathers on the market and no SRL people run any chicken killers, the demand would sky rocket and we would pocket the profits.

    Thoughts?

Maybe it would work but it is such a huge market... so it would be hard... really with anything it would be hard...

well i imagine most of the market is fueled by autoed feathers...so if we can convince every SRL members to cut the use of Forefeathers or Tarajunky's chicken killer than maybe we can reduce supply enough. And we buyout all the cheap things. Again chickens are just examples.

    Any ideas on better items?

Edit: Did some research...1,043,866,935 is the total number of feathers from munk's Forefeathers and Tarajunky's Chicken Killer Combined. That is a staggering number. Food for thought.

This isn't the first time someone suggested this idea. But I doubt it would work because we're not the only ones autoing and we're not the only ones getting feathers. It would take too long to buy all of them too.

Not to mention the amount of time it would take to save up "hundreds of mills"

Might as well save those mills and buy all the p hats.

The market is controlled by iBot.. And, you have an 25K/4 hours limit. So you can buy 150K feathers a day, max with one character.

Depends on what item, let me see if I can find it, will edit this post.

EDIT: Can't find, but it's something like this:
Raw wares - 25k limit - Example: Yew logs, runite ore, raw trout
Some finished wares - 100 limit - Example: Steel dagger, Rune pl8, Yew longbows (Not all wares for some reason)

I'm sure there is some others too, but can't remeber them right now...
Hope I helped. Feel free to rep me (Hate when people says that, just said it myself to see if it works )

Wow, if this idea could work, it'd be an alright idea, but since it won't I'm gonna just call you a retard.

bebe let me do some math for you (since you obviously are incapable of such matters...)

1,043,866,935 is the total number of feathers that both munk's forefeathers and tarajunky's chicken killer have amassed. Now, we look at the total runescape population. There are currently at most a few million active users. Now if we (again heres the math that you so despise) divide the total number of feathers harvested by autoers / by the number of active users we come to 522 feathers per person (assuming there is 2 million active users.

You can deduce the rest...or maybe you can't

Edit: Again feathes is JUST an example...maybe we control more of a market, even if it is in smaller numbers

I don't think it's so much the math that's wrong...

it's that you won't be able to convince ALL autoers to stop at the same time.
yes, I know my profile name is stupid =P

The point I was trying to make is that you aren't going to get enough of a following for your plan to accomplish this. So before you come at me for pointing out your stupidity, why don't you take a look at your own plan and realize the foolishness that it was founded on. Don't you think that these type of plans have been thought of in the past? And yet they were never successful, at least to my knowledge. Awesome plan if it could work, but it won't, simple as that. So fuck you, and have a nice day.

The biggest problem with feathers is that you can buy an unlimited amount from the fishing shop for 6 gp each. So don't bother trying with feathers.

Also, I know that some people tried to do this with yews, and after the price went up and up for a week or two, Jagex stepped in an re-set the price limits to a lower value, and those speculators lost a lot of money.

So keep in mind that it's not a free and fair market to begin with. And feathers are a BAD item to use for the reason stated above.

Edit: By the way, I'm sure the feather calculations are wrong. For my script, each "Feather Pick" is 10 feathers, since that's the average number of feathers you get per drop. So it has collected 14+ million. There's no way on earth that Forefeathers has collected 1 billion. You would have to believe that after running for twice as long, it managed to collect 100 times more feathers. Since my script picks up almost all the feathers on the screen, thats simply impossible. I'm sure there is some mistake in there, either in the script calculation, or somebody messed with that stat somehow.

Most items won't work and as tarajunky just stated, if Jagex senses a disturbance in the market that big, then they will surly step in.

And plus I hear that you can only buy 25k of an item every 4 hours from the grand exchange. So one player could only buy 150k of the item per 24 hours, so you would need a lot of players working around the clock if you want to "drain the supply".

I believe Forefeathers used to have a bug (not sure if it's fixed) that if you had a stackable item next to the feathers, the count messed up. One of my players had about 2k feathers but it was next to gp and so the script counted it as 20k feathers instead of 2k or something. That is probably where some of the errors in counting came through.

well most of this knowledge was based off the old runescape economy (i played a lot back in '06 and only got back into about a month ago because of autoers)... and I have seen this done before, just on a smaller scale and with lobsters. Didn't know Jagex put up all the limitations.

And bebe just because you said that, i will now have a nice day.

Funny thing... I started a thread with the same idea a couple months ago:
    http://www.villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27932

I still believe this is a good idea, and that it will work, I just got busy with RL and forgot about it. I even started a list of supporters. I got a total of seventeen (17!) people that said they would do it. I'm sure we could get more too.
We really just need to pick an item. I originally suggested the law rune, but almost any item would probably work.

It's great to hear that someone else thought it was a good idea I hope we can make this work.
