    Default Search system

Hi, I recently annoyed me about the Search System. I searched for TPAs, it came out as too short. I searched for DTM, it was too short. I searched for DDTM, it was too short. Could any admin (if possible) reduce the minimum amount of characters?

    Thanks in advance,
    Laurenssie0.

agreed, if you search for 'TPA Tutorial' it only includes Tutorial...

Maybe a checkbox for 'Set minimum characters: 0' or something

EDIT: Lol, if you actually search for TPA Tutorial, you get this thread on top, and N3ss3s flaxer w/ reflection is there!

EDIT2: Only 4 of the threads (on first page) is tutorials..

I have always found that minimum character count frustrating. I always found a way to rephrase what I was looking for though in the past. Redoing it, if possible, would make it easier.

I also like the idea of SETTING a minimum amount of characters. Thats also why it is hard to find tutorials some times using the search box.

If you set it to too low, then it'll include everything that it finds and it can lag the servers

It does need to be fixed. It's not just the 3 letter search limit, but the show posts doesn't work. Which is a really nice tool to use.

Instead to find all the posts of a user you have to go to a profile and hit find all posts.

Wow, this kind of thread has already been made while ago, by me..thing is even BL100 didn't know how to fix this...but far as I know, forum engines have the words what they ignore in search, you just have to include them into some file..what's in host machine..(or maybe you can enter the from admin panel..) not sure, e.g phpbb have the file..

If you would reduce the limit of minimum characters(search.php) and add ignore all the most common words what should be left out from search(the, etc, if, as, etc... and all the letters from a..z) then this may work..and the server maybe will not crash then..

this is the phpbb3 file for ignore words..

Why are you searching for TPA or DTM in there anyway? Using the Hobbit's index threads or going through the first few pages is much quicker since I'm sure there's are thousands of posts with TPA or DTM spammed in them?
