Default Changing IP that appears on welcome screen?

I've been trying to change my IP so that the IP that shows up on the welcome screen in RuneScape doesn't show my real one by using proxies through Firefox, but so far I've had limited luck. I found one proxy IP that worked but then I misplaced it. Does anyone know any proxy IPs that would work or any other ways to change my IP on the welcome screen? Any help would be appreciated.

are you trying you hack someone....

we dont support that, theres no reason to hide it , only if you dont want no one to see your IP (while your hacking).

It's not for hacking. The main reason is because I share multiple accounts with some people and I'd just feel a lot more comfortable with them not knowing my IP address.

If you have Dial-up (doubt it) your IP should change every time.
If you are on a faster internet then you should be playing unsigned and then it either won't pick up your IP or if it does it won't matter.

How do I play unsigned? I thought you couldn't anymore after the recent website update.

Also, is there a way to make it so my internet provider doesn't show? Because that would be just as good for me.

You can play unsigned by going through the http://www.runescape.com/slu.ws portal.

(You probably want to cut and paste rather than click through the SRL site...)

Thanks a lot for the link, Tarajunky. Nothing happened to my IP though when/after I logged in.

Iv'e tried to change ips on runescape before but I had no success I think normal ips simply don't work on java or you need some special socket ones or w.e you call them..

Yes, I believe you need a SOCKS 5 proxy to work with Java games. I'd go looking for one of those if you're still interested, though I hear that (working) free ones might be hard to come by.

My friend didn't use proxys, and when he logged in it was "Manchester home 5"?

This was a while ago though.

I think you can set a proxy in java network settings through the control panel too. Haven't tried and I can't be assed to try it because finding decent proxies is a pain and I don't really need this.

Chances are, you're still connecting through the same access concentrator, which is what runescape displays at the login screen anyway.
