Er, no. In the more recent one McAfee came in 15th out of 16th. However, Kapersky ranked 6th, and Norton ranked 3rd.

Also, the reason Firefox forces you to save first is so your AV can check it (mainly for the ones that scan files as they get accessed). It also takes a second or so to scan it (not sure if that's its own scanner or trying to call your own scanner).
But yeah, around twice a year I download the newest Kaspersky trial and run a full scan, that keeps me clean![]()
