    Default Bought a Laptop!

Just bought a laptop from HHGregg.

    Sony VAIO NS190J Notebook.
    Intel Core 2 Duo T5800 / 2 GHz Processor.
Microsoft Vista Home Premium 64 bit.
    4 GB DDR2 SDRAM.
    250 GB, Serial ATA-150, 5400 rpm Harddrive.

    Got it for $750.00.

All specs can be found here: http://www.superwarehouse.com/Sony_V...J_S/ps/1542594

    What do you guys think?

Btw, it only technically cost me $400 due to gift cards, etc.

You got ripped in my opinion I bought http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834115543 , and it has almost the same specs as yours, except it has a bit less RAM. The RAM I can buy and be less than your 750 USD

I don't really like to buy laptops, but i rekon it's a good price for the specs. I really like to buy parts and build my PC.

Not too shabby. You got the 4 gigs of RAM built in, and the 64 bit Vista to recognize it (Hy you would have to buy that also), which factors into price. Discrete video ram is great for gaming. 4 usb ports can be pretty handy. Screen size is great for a general purpose laptop. N wireless is a nice touch. Bluetooth would have been cool, but adapters are getting really small and cheap nowadays. AOL blows, nuff said. Hard drive and webcam are pretty standard for that price range. I'm not a big fan of Sony computers and their proprietary preferences, but let's just hope you don't have to replace anything out of warranty. All in all, looks like you got a pretty good deal.

Why do people not like Vista? >_< I'd have agreed with that a year ago, but not now.

It may be because im not very familiar with it, but I just find XP to be a better system and more convenient and user friendly.

Who cares? XP still works fine, and it is a lot less intensive on the System. Vista is like Mac computers: it isn't really any better, and the only thing different is how it looks. Mac and Vista are both eye-candy, compared to a good PC with XP. Still just my opinion

Go kill yourself.. Saying Mac(which I still don't like) is "eye-candy" is just plain stupid. It's an entirely different OS & which is better(A current Mac OS & Vista) can be debated..

I am referring to the hardware, not entirely the operating system. Sorry, it was a bad comparison. >_>

Honestly, I think the only thing XP has over Vista now (in the past there was compatibility and bugs that were fixed in SP1) is how few resources it uses up. BUT, almost every new computer nowadays will come with 2-3GB of RAM, coupled with a modern day processor, meaning there shouldn't be any noticeable difference between one running XP and one running Vista for an average PC user (And if you're not an 'average PC user', you shouldn't exactly be buying the cheapest PC you can find ). Besides, Vista's new features are pretty cool (searching for a file on an XP computer kills me >_<) .
