    Default computer problems..?

Ever since i downloaded scar along with some scripts my laptop has been running a lot slower than usual. Not only on the internet, but when im just opening folders and stuff. I havn't downloaded anything else recently except for mirc so i could ask for some help on the srl channel.. anyways i was just wondering if anyone else has had problems like this with scar, and if theres a way to fix it. My laptop is an XP

I was also wondering if my old Windows 98 computer would be alright if i downloaded scar.I dont know any information about my windows 98, except that its a windows 98. :P
    Thanks!

I'd imagine it's a combination of small hard disk space, low ram, and a high amount of spyware/lagware/unused programs.

Do a Disk Defrag, Disk Cleanup, uninstall some unused programs, restart, proft.

Possibly it may be a large internet history, you could delete it and the cookies then try uninstalling a few programs you do not need and it should work.

Large internet history and a few cookies wouldn't cause a computer to lag like that :P

Sometimes lag is caused by orphaned/corrupted files on a drive. That's the problem I always have.

    MyComputer> Drive>Properties>Tools>Check Now

Try the first check box first. If that doesn't work try both boxes.

Maybe you have a virus on your computer.
Try Scanning your computer for virus.

You are right about that, but in my opinion every bit, (that isnt really needed on your computer) makes it slower. So perhaps running CCleaner would help?
If you dont know where to find it, here is the link.

If you're willing to you could also reformat the computer and install TinyXp or some lightweight Linux distro to get the most out of an old computer. JUst backup everything.
