Most of them aren't drum beats it's their guitarists... like in that vid its just the two guitars... but yea they also have a keyboardist but their drummer is pretty crazy.

Buckethead, Steve Vai, and Herman Li are the best IMO.

Uh it most definetely does take a lot of skill to thrash something out if you want it to sound decent. Speed takes a backseat.

    Default Breaking Benjamin

My favorite guitarist would have to be Aaron Fink or Ben Burnley from Breaking Benjamin, whoever created the guitar solo for "Here We Are" in the new album, Phobia.

Well i dunno. Speed is cool but sometimes its just lame and gets boring.

I love adam jones from tool. When you first hear it doesnt sound all to great. But just some of the like swirling effects stuff is real cool. I saw them live earlier this year and it just blows your mind.

Chris cheney is ok for whoever said him Saw him last year and he was ok

Also <3 jack white. Haha he may not be the best but man he is awesome for coming up with cool little riffs. And when he wants to break free my god he unleashes hell. I saw him same day i saw living end and it was no contest. Jack just stood at front of stage while the crowd went ape and he just pulled massive 5 minute solos of all different styles. Was amazing

Also omar from mars volta/at the drive in s f-ing amazing. No one compares. Even if he does play weird shit. Saw them earlier this year. And my god. Even though the place i saw them has shitty accoustics it was just insane. Never stopping. They played for about 3 hours. With one break in the middle but other then that each song just flowed and they just kept going. It was awesome.

And just adding bass playing. cliff burton wins hands down. There is no chance anyone can beat him. Except for some people who have played slap all there life and that is there life. But yeah cliff rocked.

Also whoever said angus young was the best..... good grief.....

Im more into rock guitarists. Blues and stuff is ok. But i dunno.

Improvisational blues can be fun. I like Mars Volta, but yeah, they play some weird shit.

I saw Styx, Foreigner, and Def Leppard in concert about a week and a half ago. Styx was good, Foreigner sounded great for the five songs they play (pissed everyone off), and Def Leppard was amazing. Having it storm like crazy and being totally soaked just added to it. It was lightening and thundering all over, and it looked and sounded insane with the guitars going. . .Plus there was a mudslide, what more can you ask?

Awesome. A lot of the old school guys have their own definite style. It's much harder now for a player to make that same kind of niche. That being said, nothing beats a nice guitar solo from Brian May of Queen

Its interesting. Everyone picks this guy. ANd in rolling stone and what not but hes somewhat like i dunno boring to me.... He is a awesome guitar player. But he never really shows it in his songs with rage or audioslave... I mean name any rage song. And with the right effects units there is no doubt that all average guitar players can play it. I learned pretty much there whole first album when i first started playing. He is great when he is just doing his thing but he never shows it...

O AND I FORGOT TO ADD THE GREATEST PLAYER/SINGER IN MY OPINION.... I cant believe i forgot him though. But matt bellamy from muse is astounding. Knights of cyndonia or super massive black hole are both awesome. And he playes really really hard stuff while singer perfect. Saw him when i saw tool (was a festival thing eariler this year) and it was the best few hours of my life in music.

    I have a long list,

I like David Gilmour and Sid Barret of Pink Floyd
I like Jimmi Hendrix of Dave Mathews
I like Slash of Guns n Roses
and I like Kirk Hammet of Metallica.

The 3 guitarists of iron maiden are also good :/

I have problems with finding the BEST guitarist, so I decided to make a list. These are my favorite guitarists, no particular order.

    Kirk Hammet
    Eddie Van Halen
    Zakk Wylde
    Dimebag Darrell
    Steve Vai
    Slash

    I hope I didn't forget anyone that I like

    Edit:

I just saw a few posts above me. I didn't know exactly what the best Guitarist/Singer meant. I took it as the best guitarist who also lead sings. I would have to say James Hetfield, or Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society) would be the best guitarists who also lead sing.

    1) Buckethead
    2) Angus Young (AC/DC)
    3) Slash (Guns N' Roses)'
    4) Dimebag Darrell (Pantera) (Dead)
    5) Eddie Van Halen (Van Halen)

    Buckethead is just insane...
    Angus makes killer sound. Awesome
Slash is just good. His style is good.
Dimebag Darrell did a load of good stuff in Pantera
    Eddie is just sickly fast.
