    Does this game cost money?

If it did not cost money, I would understand the need for advertisements. I find it quite funny, actually.

this is the first time you have seen an ad in a game? They have been in games for quite some time now.

The first ad was featured in a video game in 1978

And this article from the bbc is like 4 years old and it says that in game ads are going to start being more prevalent.

I personally have seen many ads in all kinds of games, most of it is simply product placement, but that is still a form of advertisement.

Ive never seen ads that are for OTHER products then the one you are using at the moment, like in CS 1.6 I always see ads for steam games.

Today I saw a ad for Visual Basic 2008 -.-

They do ads in game for 2 reasons.
    1) It makes it more realistic, as in you would see those ads IRL.
    2) They can make some extra money off it, making the game cheaper for you.

yes, because last time I was playing a game without ads I was pissed at the poor realism because I couldn't find a single god darn advertisement! What kind of cheap game wouldn't even bother being real enough to put in some ads!

(didn't mean to flame, just thought it was a funny point )

Heh, I am being serious. Most driving games have a few ads. Not all the time they are real, sometimes they make funny fake ads, such as in GTA.

Lots of games have advertisements, like the KFC buckets in Guitar Hero.
