    Default Norton AntiVirus Problem?

I just got a new computer, and it came with a 60 day free trial of Norton Internet Security, before I installed it, I went on Runescape, and it was pretty fast.

Now that I have it installed, the computers usage has gone up to 100%, and when I press Ctrl+Alt+Del, it tell me that the System process CCPROXY.EXE is taking up 90%+ of my usage. And its memory usage is 49,144 K. It was really slowing down my computer, so I googled the process, and it came up that it was a Norton process, and I shouldn't have any problems with speed.

However, my computer has slowed down majorly, can anyone help me, or lead me somewhere where I can get help?

    Thanks,
    Cheesehunk.

P.s. I have had Norton on previous computers with no problem.

Make shure its in the right folder I had a virus named that and i found it because it was in the wrong place (verses where norton puts it). It also slowed down my computer alot
    FYI: It should be in: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\

I did a search on my computer, and it came up with two results:
    • C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared (the right folder)
    • C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch

I am assuming the second one is just a temopary file, or something, but I do not know this for sure..

The first one is 234 KB, and it's an application.
The second one is only 14KB, and is a PF file, so I assume it isn't a virus, correct me if I am wrong.

The second one seems to be with a list of all my processes, so I am probably making myself look dumb by posting it.

I dislike norton... It hogs an assload of ram and cpu and makes it difficult to play CS:S.

I should have mentioned before I posted that I know a lot of people dislike Norton, but I am just trying to see if there is something wrong with my computer, the Norton I have, or something else?

wouldnt know.. but i wouldnt even suggest norton.. i had problems with it.. majorly..

i did a full system scan with norton and it came up with 537 viruses... so i "deleted" them and 3 weeks later my computer crashed.. i fixed it.. got a new anti-virus program called winantivirus 2006 and i did a full system scan... it found 87,000+ viruses all in the norton folder.. now my computer runs like a charm..

short story.. i would switch if i were you

Your not suppost to have 2 antivirus program's because that's what happens.

Just using windows firewall for a week I've got over 50 viruses and countless popup's, using norton's firewall, I can do a scan once a month and find 0 viruses and no popup's or banner ad's.

Ya, I think Norton is great, btu can anyone help me with this problem? It is taking up all of my CPU usage.

Edit: It turns out that this process takes up more usage as you leave it on longer. If it is taking up to much memory, and CPU usage, all you have to do is restart!
