    Default SCAR => Important

    Hey, ok so here's the thing, I've been inactive for quite a bit, and picking up has been fun *sarcasm* Seems like problems just keep piling up... But anyway, here's the thing... SCAR 3.20 obviously still has a nice deal of issues to be fixed, so there's 2 options for me and I'll let this community decide how I will proceed.

    Either I fix 3.20 or I immediately start work on SCAR 4 which is a complete rewrite, it will probably take a tad-bit longer, but I'll be releasing plenty of pre-release versions.

    SCAR 4 will support everything from pre-initiated variables to user defined classes. It'll also contain entire systems for includes and what not to be downloaded from the server where users can add their own includes and stuff like that, support for scripts with include dependencies... It'll have a new plugin system which will be far more extensive, also allow GUI plugins to add tools to SCAR and such.

    So I'll leave it up to you.

    I see it this way...

    If SCAR 3.20d's rs_GetUpText work after they re-set the fonts, then go ahead
    and go SCAR 4, If not, do a quickfix before going there

    I only have one issue, the idea was to develop SCAR 4 using CodeGear RAD studio 2009 to offer full support for Vista, Windows 7, Unicode, ... But I never managed to get my hands on a license... So if I start on Delphi 7, I'll end up getting causing the same problem I have now which is that I can't port the thing to a higher version because the stuff I used isn't compatible

    I say fix 3.20...because otherwise won't the issues in 3.20 be ported to 4?

    So far every copy I've had managed to figure out it wasn't licensed and died on me... And I'd really like to release the end product with a licensed copy, but I guess I could do that when I get to it

    Hmmm.. I vote SCAR 4, then I might have a nice surprise when I get back from holidays

    Are you going to fix all the bugs in SCAR 3.20d in SCAR 4?

    SCAR 4 is a rewrite, so practically all code will be rewritten, the code that will be ported will be tested very extensively so no bugs stay behind, like the new bitmap routines in SCAR 3.20

    Oh that's nice! About how long would you estimate it would take to get 3.20 done, and 4? I think that would help people decide

    I really have no clue, it'll be a huge amount of code in both Delphi and PHP, but I'll be releasing alpha and beta versions really soon so it can already be used even though it's not really done yet

    It would be best to get a working version first. AKA 3.21. When that's done, you could work on 4.
    What if Firefox broke and instead of fixing it, they started making a new version?

    The best way to contact me is by email, which you can find on my website: http://wizzup.org
    I also get email notifications of private messages, though.

    Exactly what I thought..that's why I was asking for a timeframe, if 4 was only a day longer than maybe it would be alright. :P

    My vote goes to...

    ..for fixing the current problems first.

    In my opinion, it is just so much more important thing to do right now

    Scar 4....

    but i have a question with your V3.20, since the forums are down i'll ask you here.

    SCAR Code:
    Procedure Playit;
    var
      M: TMusic;
    begin
      M:= CreateMusicPlayer;
      M.LoadFromFile(AppPath + 'Tickyy_includes\Tickyy.mp3');
      M.Play(false);
      Wait(6000);
    end;

    Is anything wrong with that, well if not then... why do i always get this error when i run the script twice:

    [Runtime Error] : Exception: [TMusic Error | Code: 14] in line 202 in script C:\.......
    Hi

    I think you should fix the current version, then really go all out on SCAR 4, and not having to worry about SCAR 3.20 problems.

    Just my opinion.

    I've decided I'll probably not need Architect which is the version I had up in my donations list, the professional version of RAD studio would cost me €125, well Delphi 2009 Pro is €107, but you know, €18 diff to get C++ builder, Delphi Prism, etc... Delphi Prism will let me use Mono and if you know what Mono does you know what that could mean Might not do it for SCAR though as my script engine probably isn't Mono-compatible seeing Mono is a .NET implementation
