It's very possible. I don't pay attention to anything OSR related. If there's an up to date guide I will add it to the OP if someone posts it.

So do I need 8.0 or 8.3 then...? And also, where is a sample or perhaps a list of OSR scripts I could try to see if I completed the installation guides correctly?

8.3, but if you follow my guide you will notice that.

you can try to compile one of my scripts

    Thanks, I've updated the OP.

E: Something I accidentally left out of the OP -- You need to have "Slim Headers" checked off in the interface settings.

Another step I forgot to add to the OP:

Make sure the transparency bar in the interface settings is slid all the way to to left (so there is 0% transparency).

Try putting it in fixed while at the login screen. If you have to do auto-setup first that's fine.

I'm back after a few months, and I'm getting the same Fatal Error message trying to set up SRL6 that a few others have mentioned. I have java 7.45 x32 installed, and there's no trace of any other java version (neither in my x86 nor my x64 program folders). My path variable settings are correct. Simba is as updated as it gets, and I have SMART 8.3. My AV/firewall is set to allow OpenGL32.dll, and I'm running Simba as admin. I'm really not sure what the problem is.

    Code:
    Compiled successfully in 795 ms.

Long ago, the '90s Nicktoons lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the century turned. Only Avatar, the best of the 2000's Nicktoons, could save them. But when the channel needed it most, the show finished. Four years passed and Mike and Bryan created the new Avatar: Legend of Korra. And although the show itself is great, it has a long way to go before it can live up to The Last Airbender. But I believe Korra can save Nickelodeon.

I don't think this should make a difference, but I tell people to do it as a precaution anyway: install the 64-bit version of Java as well as the 32-bit.

After installing the x64 java just now, I tried it again twice (once with PATH pointing to the x64 folder, once with it pointing to the x32 one) and still no dice

And you restarted Simba after installing/retrying with PATH settings? I'm not sure what else would cause this.

Yeah, I restart it after making any change. I also tried going back to SMART 8.2, same error. It's a clean install of Simba (uninstalled/deleted everything from pre-1.0 before installing), so I'm at a loss here.

Make sure your SRL is updated (and you can see the SRL tab in Smart) to SRL 6. Force an update and then try. If all else fails then re-install Smart (I had the same problem and that solved it for me).

I think I've narrowed it down to something is going wrong with OpenGL32.dll. Something is happening to stop SMART from spawning a client, so the debug tells me. Still have no idea what would cause (or fix) that.

Well I would think it's not supposed to try to pair if no other client exists. I don't have time to look into it right now, but maybe @Olly; has an idea. He knows more about SMART than me anyway.

My point there was just that it seems like it was trying to spawn a client but couldn't, hence the inability to pair.

I managed to get it working again earlier today, so it's solely academic at this point anyways. I installed the x32 and x64 JDKs, changed the PATH setting to have references to all 4 possible java bin folders (in order: JDK7 x64, JRE7 x64, JDK7 x32, JRE7 x32), uninstalled Simba completely, then re-installed it under c:\ instead of C:\Program Files. Some combination of these must have fixed the problem, as it's working alright now.

I'm having a problem with Simba when I try to select the SMART client. I'm running Ubuntu 12.04(32bit). So far everything works, except when I try and select the SMART client, then Simba crashes. I can select any part of Simba, or the rest of the screen(Just selects the whole screen with Ubuntu, can't select individual things, except for SMART, which crashes it).
Here's the error log it saves after crash:
    Simba Code:
    Program exception!
    Stacktrace:

    Exception class: EAccessViolation
    Message: Access violation

Any ideas on how to fix?

Edit: Just noticed on the wizzup page that Simba is broken on Linux as of 1.0, so I'm assuming I'll just have to use windows for now

Sure thing. In Windows systems, the Path variable is usually used to tell programs where to find the java directory. You'll first need to make sure you have the latest Java for your system installed (if you have java 6 on your computer, uninstall it first. This has been what caused issues for a lot of people here, although my problem was different). There are two Java packages you can get, the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) for end-users, and the Java Development Kit (JDK) for developers. I installed the x32 and x64 versions of both, although that may not be necessary. Start by just installing the latest (7u45) x32 JRE and JDK linked here. If you don't trust provided links (usually a smart idea), both can be found easily on the Oracle website. Their site lists 32-bit downloads as x86 instead of x32, but they're the same thing. If you have a 64-bit system and think you'll need x64 java as well, those downloads can also be found on their website.

To change the Path variable once java's installed, do the following:
    -Open the Start menu
    -Right Click Computer, select Properties
-On the left of the window that just popped up, click Advanced System Settings (may require admin rights to open)
-On the System Properties window that pops up, go to the Advanced tab and at the bottom click Environment Variables
-The top half isn't important, just look at the bottom window labeled System Variables
-Scroll through until you find a variable called Path, and click Edit. If it doesn't exist, click New and create it.
-The Value field will be where you input the file path to the bin folder of your java install. This will be based on where you had java installed to. For me, my x32 JDK is at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.7.0_45\bin" and my JRE is at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\"
-To specify a folder, simply type (or copy/paste) the location into the field.
-To specify multiple different folders (like if you have the JRE and the JDK), separate the paths by a semicolon. It will look in the first listed location first.
-If you installed both the x32 JRE and JDK, it should look like:
    Code:
    Variable name: Path
    Variable value: C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.7.0_45\bin\;C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\
(In a 64-bit system, "Program Files (x86)" is used for 32-bit programs. In a 32-bit system, it will just use the "Program Files" folder.)

If that doesn't work, try switching the order the java paths are listed in (so that the JRE will be listed before the JDK). If you still have issues, check to see where Simba is installed. If it is in your Program Files (or somewhere else other than C:\), try uninstalling Simba and reinstall it to C:\ instead of C:\Program Files

Changing the Path settings and reinstalling Simba to C:\ got it to work for me, let me know how it does for you.
