    Default Ubuntu Stuff

Well I installed Ubuntu (again) and this time I've gotten a little farther than last time. My main question is how to set up the NetworkManager because I find it very confusing even though I can find most of what's needed, what information does it NEED to connect to a network? Also, for some reason FireFox isn't letting me use the back buttons or the search box

    Any help would be appreciated

Wireless I assume? If there's no security, then just the SSID. To see available SSIDs, run wifi-radar. To get wifi-radar, while connected to internet with a wired connection, run:
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install wifi-radar

IIRC there is a check box within edit connections called Connect Automatically, try that.

The interface is pretty straight forward if I recall correctly. I just left clicked on the Wireless Internet Icon, and it displayed a list of Wireless Access Points near me. Once I selected one, it would prompt me for a user and pass, and it would then just connect.

Didn't seem as simple as what Wizzup said anyway I'll try those suggestions after I partition it because I can't really do much atm because Vista is hogging all the space

i don got ubuntu, but a kubuntu based system...

sometimes i put my wi card in mon mode for pen tests and it wont let me reconnect to internet till i do:

    iwconfig ath0 ap [target mac]
    iwconfig ath0 essid [essid]
    iwconfig ath0 key sassphrase
    dhclient ath0

course since ur using official ubuntu this should be waaayyy easier than using that. but just if u wanted to know....my little 2c....
