"I can get x MB/s because I live in country x". That is what the article is saying, pretty much. Anywhere you go, you can get any speed of Internets. Only reason they do not, is because of the cost.

You notice how a lot of the fastest places are usually the most densely populated? Yeah, like Japan. It is because of this fact they can give everyone a cheaper tube that also goes quicker, as the population per square mile is larger.

The bolded text is pretty much wrong if I understood it correctly. For example, we used to have ancient copper cables for our tiny village, so the maximum speed you could get (no matter if you pay 15 oder 100$ per month) was damn slow. Now they finaly added fiber glass cables though, so now it's a lot faster.

So, in conclusion, your statement is correct if you are talking about mobile internet connections (e.g. the "Globe Trotter" stick), but false if you are talking about W-Lan connection or anything of that sort on a stationed placed. Given that I understood you correctly.

Japan trails South Korea with an average of 15.8 mbps followed by Sweden at 12.8 mbps and the Netherlands at 11.0 mbps, the report said.

    Meh, I only got 6mbps -.-

Anyways, in South-Korea, the government heavily subsidized fiber and broadband connections, thus, everyone can get fast internet fairly cheap there.
I made a new script, check it out!.

I meant in the fact that if they had money, they could order a fibre wire right to their door

    Money rules everything.

Although I may be at 12mb for downloading, I'm at a pathetic .5mb for uploading D:

No wonder I can never host good connection online games D:
