Its like GG. They're either a) being polite to the opponent, or b) rubbing in the fact that they won.

    Maybe both.

Accept that the waters around you have grown.

It is like dissing someone, but respecting them at the same time.

It is polite to say GF, even if it is a good fight or not

I think that saying GF when losing is very polite and fair because you are congratulating the winner and not whining about you losing (saying it was unfair...). Saying GF when winning is showing off most of the times IMO.

If the loser is saying it = good sportsmanship
If the winner is saying it = rubbing it in
Is what I think, like tico said

It probably depends a lot on the person too. If they were a jerk the whole fight than it is probably meant as rubbing it in, but if the person was actually a nice person (lol RS + nice people) than they might just be saying it to be polite.

Edit: Personally for me, it is a habit since I played a lot of Guild Wars.

I guess to be polite. It kind of gets on my nerves though. It'd be like me saying goodfight every time I killed someone on Halo. Just kind of lame.

Many people do it in halo.
It's called tea-bagging on halo though

I say GF if it was a close fight like if both our hp's were low when I or my opponent died. Or if someone says GF when I killed em
