    Default Jagex's banhammer

I want to know if Members accounts are given more leniency towards botting than free to play?
    Here's my story:
A friend and I botted a lot with rsbot last year, we both botted similar things, in particular the Mining Guild. Now both our accounts are approx the same age, created back in '02 and we were both completely clean of offenses with the only difference of his being a member.
We both foolishly botted around the clock, left it going overnight, while we were at school etc.
About 2 weeks later, Jagex starts mass banning, my accounts are all banned, 1 macro offense = permanent ban. And yet, my friend only got a "minor" macroing offense at which he laughed at and continued botting
In the end he racked up something like two minor macroing offenses and one major, but was still able to log in. Then his membership ran out... and WHAM! B&hammer.

I thought I had read somewhere on their site that they don't treat members any differently to F2P with offenses, and yet...

    They used to.

I am not sure anymore however, but I do believe that they said it is equal now but I'm not entirely sure if that's true.

It says on some disclaimer that they have a right to hide the evidence.
All macro bans say "None" evidence.
