Do a full reformat of your PC. Clear the other partitions & all. I didn't have that problem when installing.

Also, inb4 "install linux/ubuntu/other *nix variant"

Try reburning the iso at a slower speed, first I tried at 16x (I think? It said maximum in alcohol) and got errors, then I reburnt at 2x and it installed fine.

I would probably blame that on your "cough" unkown source. To be honest, that's what you get when you pirate software (assuming that is what it was, if not then I apologize).

Wait, what? Why do you have to clear all your other partitions?
I have partitions I would like to save; (some even have other OS'es) it would utterly suck to have to remove/clear them???

You probably don't have to at all. I installed with 4 other partitions present, including 2 linux, a vista, and a storage.

Also, lol @ people saying pirated stuff is dodgy - l2warez, seriously. Read the comments on the thread/torrent that the iso/software is posted on, people always report back if it works and if it doesnt. Personally I've never downloaded any warez that didnt work, other than if I installed the crack wrong/burnt at too high of a speed etc. And I've downloaded alot of stuff in my time lol.

I soooooo agree Claw. On where I get all my programs/games/films every link is checked, and if it's a virus you sure as heck will see it in the comments, if it wasn't removed before that.
I lol'd at my brother saying downloading PIRATED antivirus software is "extra" dangerous :P

I bet you downloaded from the same source as I did, because I actually had the same problem as you. Just reburned the iso and tried again. It worked.

What's with all the hype about Windows 7 anyway..? It'll fail spectacularily(sp) just like every other windows in the past (I still remember the vista hype too, so I cba to get my hopes up). Should be better than Vista, but not like it's the second coming of christ or something..

    Gotta watch that

And for you other people who are putting doubt in to Windows 7 I say to you if you´r a Windows user AND got a computer who doesnt lack of performance meaning a decent processor and 2gb ram. You should switch no matter what current OS (Windows of course if your smart enough to use *nix don´t...) you have now. I never switched to vista for many reasons it consumes performance like a Ferrari on extacy and was buggy as a swisscheese has holes. I used XP which did it´s job more or less.

I started using W7 with the build 7200 I think. It much bettet then XP even tho the control panel is fucking outrageous I can´t find ANYTHING even after using it for a cupple of months. Other then that it´s smooth saling. One thing which bugs me is that it preloads everything before letting you use your computer.

I use a non-legit version which was around 2,23gb and work like a charm. Also it´s now possible to install from a USB stick or maybe even an USB drive am not really sure. So burning a CD/DVD is not the only option anymore (well network install is a pain so no point mentioning it)

Its actually pretty good...alot of improvements over vista. The taskbar is epic (combines the good parts of apple's dock and the traditional taskbar), and the way you can maximise/minimise windows is cool too (by dragging the window to the top or sides of the screen, you are able to do it). Alot of other stuff too, its so much easier and smoother to use. Triple booting with vista and ubuntu, so its not bias making me say this lol

Have to disagree on that part. Appels dock is a million if not a trillion times better at window management. I actually use a nifty app called Rocket Dock which is supposedly try´s to act like an appel-dock but it does one of a hell sloppy job. Instead of when having 7 firefox windows appear upwards (like in XP) it goes sideways WTF do they want you to use the mouse more then nececary and it spreads out as well. Less mouse and keyboard use = success in efficiency. Also if you don´t change the taskbar it takes up 1/5th of the screen with big bulky squares. Well maybe not 1/5th but damn it´s huge.

Its for Ubuntu if am not utterly retarded right? I´ve no experience in using linux and I wont doubt that it could be good. I see no need for me to use linux on my daily use computer so I probably will never experience this supposedly better dock. But someone else might

If its taking up 1/5th of your screen you need a better resolution monitor, lol. You're right in that you need to use your mouse more but I prefer it this way, as the way it spreads out allows the live thumbnails of the windows you can choose from, so instead of having to read lines and lines of text to find the window you want, you can immediately see it and click it. It might be worth mentioning I have a good mouse though (Logitech G9), I can move it from one side of one of my 22" monitors to the other side of the other 22" by moving my hand about 2cm, so the extra side movement I have to do when clicking a window from the taskbar doesnt matter to me at all. The right click to access pinned/frequented files and locations is handy as well. Each to their own I guess, but this does everything I'd want it to.

And how does the apple dock manage multiple windows? I havent used it for a while.

Yeah 1/5th was a bit exaggerated but it was pretty huge compared to XPs. But it is changeable the quickbar is almost as small as XPs now and I guess you can make it even amler with some tweaking but I cannot be arsed. I use quite low sense on my mouse precision is more important then speed for me, or well was I never use photoshop or any program like that which require precise movement. And in games you can always change the sense ingame.
(Rougly messured i have to move the mouse 15cm to get across the screen 22inch 1680x1080 :P)

I have to say apples window managemnet is toptastic. I don´t think my english nor swedish is good enough how to explain how it works but heres a pic which shows 1 method (there are 3 as far as i know using OS X 10.3 on my laptop tho so it´s a bit old )
    http://gigapple.files.wordpress.com/...lus-expose.jpg
Basically you have the dock right, which shows your active programs. It dosnt show how many application windows you have open. But you press the F buttons i think F11,F12,F13 each of them displays different. One shows all the open windows in that specific application. One shows all the application windows. And the third one if there is even one i can´t rember. 1 key moves all the applications to very side of the screen so you can see your desktop in no time. Sure windows got that too, but it´s a ugly little button which you have to click instead of just pressing a key.

I hope not turning this thread into a Mac vs windows vs linux(maybe, people here seems to be using it quite a lot). Because that was not my intention and those discussions tend never to lead to anywhere.
