I can make it look exactly like Windows, so I guess that evens them up.

Multitouch, yes. Multi pointers, yes. Multi keyboards, yes.

UI state: Same state as about 5 years ago: Perfect. 100% customizable and tweak-able.

Window snaps + >9000 other features.

    E:
About that "big" bar. Have a look at KDE for the past 8 years.

Look, that's the problem. There's too much to tweak, and too many choices to be made.
I'd like to point you towards the book "The Paradox of Choice" by Barry Schwartz. Contrary to popular belief, choice makes anxious, not happy. It's pretending to be freedom, but choices can be a hell: they keep getting after you, they keep returning, you need to make them every time.

Oh, and about the "big bar", NeXTSTEP 1989

Besides I just hate Gnome, can't get used to it. I preferred KDE but all the widgets just fuck it up epicly. Never used XFCE but it seems perfect to me. Got nothing against Linux but of course someone needs to stop the "windows is sooo shit", because its not too bad, at least it works fine with my monitor out of the freakin box x)
I made a new script, check it out!.

KDE came way before Windows 7.. notice any similarities?

    Compare:

    vs.
    http://www.kde.org/announcements/4.1/

I wonder where microsoft got some of their ideas from

Regardless of where they got the idea, MS did a hell of a better job on their task bar than the KDE team did IMO.
