My suggestion is you sell the old desktops you have, and buy a new one for about 600 dollars. AMD Phenom II x4, Radeon HD 5750 (don't listen to the crap about fans dying, mine has been used fine for months now, fan working fine; they must have installed theirs wrong). Just now throw in a decent mobo, 4 GB ddr2, and you can make yourself a decent box for a nice price. It will last at least a few years on the newest games, even DX11.
months? lol they have only been out since october 21stish.

The 5750 is a good card, and there may even be a passive one soon. But none of this matters since the OP is dead set on a laptop, apparently his parents are dictating how he spends his money.

Also, I doubt you will get any laptop that can play GTA4 or Crysis on any respectable framerate.

Okay then. You guys have convinced me to get a regular desktop ill worry about collage later on then...

So I have a 500 dollar budget atm, what parts should I get for a desktop that are good for gaming? Should I just buy a desktop with the things already in place?

Alright so I have this Hp Pavilion which was made in 2002... its really shitty I doubt its upgradable to anything, but yeah what does everyone recommend?

    Desktop looks like this:

Well im going with what Harry said:
    Video Card
    Processor

Do you guys think its good? Also how do I know if these products will work well on that Old Hp? Or does anyone know if theres a desktop with these things in it?
Faith is an oasis in the heart which will never be reached by the caravan of thinking.

I'dreccomend a q6600 intel processor (its quad core and have insane performance) go for the 2.4ghz version. a good and cheap graphics card is the 8800gt (nvidia) which you should be able to get pretty cheap from ebay or something. Hope it helped.
