On another note, how's life Dervish? Has this thread helped at all? I know you probably weren't looking for help, but I thought maybe hearing pretty much all of SRL's opinion's on life might have cheered you up
TL;DR : The only way to be completely true to yourself is to stay in your cave and cry at night

For one thing, I know that being completely and relentlessly true to yourself won't bring happiness, because everyone's got to pour some water in their wine if we are to live as a society. How do you think it happened that so many different styles, musical genres and ways of thoughts emerged in recent decades? Maybe the internet has a say in it, but it all starts when a community gets more loosely connected, when you spend more time online than with your real life friends. There is no way to truly fit in without giving up some of your individuality.

Moreso, once I know being myself won't help, I gotta decide whom I'll get to be. Here's a fact : Hollywood and the medias' got it all wrapped up for ya. It won't automatically make you happy to be rich and have influence over those who surround you. What will make you happy is the admiration, love and friendship that will spawn from these. When you start dressing and acting like a guy from the movies, they'll treat you like one. Choose carefully

Don't you know the happiness of finding a family you belong in? Haven't you ever felt like you were at the core of your IRL gang or group, with a say in every matter?

There you can get people to do with you things that you like. My personal favourites are snowboarding, urban climbing and online vidya games. During vacations, that's all that we do.

ALSO : This ain't the right thread, but I'm getting plugged on Ritalin any thoughts?

    Love? That's not love.
The jealous temper of mankind, ever more disposed to censure than
to praise the work of others, has constantly made the pursuit of new
methods and systems no less perilous than the search after unknown
    lands and seas.

There is no point to life, you weren't born for a reason, nor was anyone else, in the macro view things just happen, without reason, without order. Your job is to find meaning to your life, and make what you can of it, think about it this way, whatever position you're in, there's always going to be someone worse of than you, be thankful that you aren't in their position, and I doubt that person is killing themselves, so have some courage, and find a way to at least survive through it, because things change with time, you don't know what the future has to bring you, you can't say all there's left to your life is pain, because no one knows that, no one can predict that. Everybody faces problems in life, what you should do is never give up and always keep thinking about the positives, and search for solutions and build yourself a better life. That's my opinion, hope it shed some light on the matter for you.

I am sorry, but he wont be forgotten, ever. For the cruel things he did. But for this whole arguement/debate thing, i agree with you.

It just makes me angry that someone would even think of something like this.

You should see, when something more terrible happens, and news will stop picking up these old related facts such as hitler, he will be forgotten.

That wasn't very nice, you may be sick of my whining, but you don't have to read threads about it then, nor post back.

Your life has alot more meaning then the people living in the middle east or africa. Goodness. In Isreal I've seen a girl whose whole family got killed and shes only 9. I've seen a girl witness her dads death infront of her. I've seen nearly 1000 destroyed homes that were destroyed while people were living in them. I know there are ALOT of people starving and that are being oppressed. I've seen people eat insects for food. Yet they dont say "there is no meaning to life". Imagine how THEY feel.

ALOT of people are living extremely worse then you. Face it, if your getting picked on or something then learn some martial arts, lift weights etc etc. If your parents hate you then seek some local help.

There maybe no meaning to life to YOU, but I've seen a 50 piece Knife set at Sears on sale if theres one located near you. Buy it, and start cutting yourself.

Needs more of this, althought things are very different on this side of the world. We're having it easy in the west.

I'm not downplaying anything of your arguments; people out there have it way harder than most westerners could ever imagine. But while most of us in the west can feed and drink and play, what we also have in gigantic ammounts is loneliness. Crippling, paralyzing, colder-than-cold loneliness.

My hometown of Montreal has one of the highest suicide rates of the world. came summer 2009, a surgeon killed his two daughters and wife before committing suicide. We saw Mark Lépine and Kim Veergill.

When I walk on the streets of the town where I live, those who I don't know either shoot wary looks at me; else, they'll just not cross my eyes. those I do know look at everyone else that way. I've seen a mother with her kids change sidewalks because she didn't want to cross me.

People here get sick with overwork, drug and alcohol addiction, obesity and gambling. Besides my girlfriend and family, it's been about a week since I talked to another human being face to face.

I dream of a world where people smile back at you, where you can say "It's difficult right now in my life" without being called a faggot or without being pointed that others have it equally rough.

I think it's our generation that is supposed to build that world.

Hello again, I just want to post an apology to Dervish, what I said the other day was not required, and I did not gain anything from it, it was a spur of the moment thing and I am sorry.

Even though most of the community will not know me as I'm mostly active on IRC, my actions the other day will have succeeded in gaining me a stereotype, and not a good one indeed.

Although, I am not just apologising to ensure a rightful amount of respect, but I am indeed sorry.
