The biggest problem to hit our economy would be trying to help out in Eurasia. We were pretty isolated when WW I happened, we got rich by selling military equipment. Eventually we actually got involved, after the war we went into recession.
Same with WW II, but it resulted in the Great Depression.
Now we're trying to stop terrorism and fix all the problems in Iraq, and our economy is suffering. The US needs to just stop caring about the European and Asian conflicts.

    Edit: Here you go bionicle.
The US started a war on "terror" so they could suck oil and other resources from the Middle East. I don't see how it relates to Europe and Asia.

And the entire "don't care about the rest of the world" attitude is total bullshit. We only have one earth, and we should all safeguard it.

The war on terrorism got us over there, and now we're trying to solve all the problems there are. i.e. Sunni-Shiite relations.

My "stop caring" statement was poorly worded, I mean to say that we really shouldn't be throwing our economy into the filled portable toilet at every conflict we can. Right now we should be focusing on our own country, improving quality of life, creating more panels to harness solar energy, etc. before we swirl ourselves into even more trillions of dollars in debt.

No matter how much altruism is regarded as "good," it is still an invalid argument; it can't be proven.

America is a Christian nation. The conflicts between the Sunni and Shiite's should not be America's problem. The problem with America is that it simply cannot mind it's own business. If it really DID care about the world it would start off with Africa.

America is almost at war with 4 nations:
Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan. If the war between Iran got serious then I think it should be the down fall of America since it CANNOT afford it.
Faith is an oasis in the heart which will never be reached by the caravan of thinking.

Actually, if it cared about the world it'd go fuck with China and make them get their shit straight about green technology. THEN, once the technology exists, we go develop Africa the right way so we don't have to do it over.

^ This. There is no war on terror. The war is against the Iraqi people. More innocent men, women and children have been killed than terrorists by far, and they weren't killed by Iraqis.. It's not a war, it's the murder of civilians, in my opinion, the real terrorists are the soldiers responsible for those deaths. There are far more real terrorist threats over here in the west than there are in the middle-east. Maybe we need another civil war? I think not.

However, we shouldn't get into an argument over which is the better country/continent/group of countries. Europe is superior in many ways to America, just as America is in many ways superior to Europe. I'm from England but I openly admit that England has made as many mistakes as the US, if not more. We have a ridiculously inept government, along with several huge failures, such as our education system and our media. On the plus side, we do have the NHS - and although it has it's flaws, when that day comes when you need free health-care, you see just why the NHS really is good. America is working towards the decriminalisation and legalisation of Cannabis, which will be a huge step forward when it finally happens, however over here in the UK the opposite is happening, and media bias is pushing the government to make stupid decisions, such as the sacking of their own drug czar, who himself said that Cannabis is far less dangerous than cigarettes or alcohol and that the legislation should reflect this.

There are two "real" countries in this world. Babylon, which is all of civilisation where laws and money are present, this form of society is full of corruption, evil deeds, and general fallacies. Zion on the other hand is the few parts of the world that have managed to keep themselves away from this, and have remained isolated and untouched. It is through love and friendship that those who still wish to be a part of Zion manage to break free from modern society and do just that. Arguing over which part of Babylon is the best/worst is like arguing over which murderer you'd trust to babysit your children, the answer is none.

I didn't start the war on terror. I don't release massive amounts of greenhouse gases. I definitely didn't vote for Bush, as I was like 12. Plus Kerry or Gore would have been way worse.

A stereotype is a assumption that every single person of that class is the same, in this case most people stereotype that every US citizen is bad, which is not the case. It is just certain people, and with the large amount of industry in the US, this causes all the greenhouse gasses. I'm not bashing the US, I'm just saying what the world-wide stereotype is.

People say that America shouldnt be doing such things because its none of their business, so they should leave it to the people whose business it is...but if USA is in trouble because they're doing it, then shouldnt the people who ought to be doing it...well...be doing it?

I heard somebody talking about science in the UK.
America is full of creationists. nuff said

The US is the only western democracy which does not yet have a public health care service.

On the other hand, as far as I can tell, people in Europe dont really take seriously the values of the enlightenment of freedom of thought and expression. In many European countries there are laws which make crimes of thoughts and writing.

For some reason in the US we reeaaly like to keep our freedom of speech as law, even though our society essentially bans it.

Yeah, especially how the riot squads are called out every time there's a rally...

Can't argue with that logic. Fuck, guys, let's go to Europe right now!

Anyway. (And I hope you know I'm just messing with you, Pompey. ) I think that every country is fucked in their own way. And if everyone here from the US moved to EU, and vice versa, then it'd be the same arguments, just different people arguing. Sooooo.. America's government may be a little naive, or even idiotic, cruel, however you want to phrase it, or it may be a thoughtful government, depending on how you were raised and how your peers act, and what the media says. If you think those factors (guardians, peers, media, etc.) don't effect it, then you should get out of your little box. But whatever.
