Default Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT vs 9800 GTX+

    Which one should i buy?

I was thinking about going for the GT over the GTX+.

Price difference is only $10 at best buy, so don't worry about that.

    Info:
    GT

    GTX+

also, i'm not sure that the GTX+ will even work in my comp
I have an HP xw4300 workstation, here is a quote from the specs page @ http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/q...12260_na.HTML:
3 PCI slots, 1 PCI Express x1 slot, 1 PCI Express x8 slot (with x4 functionality)
and heres a quote from the specs page on the GTX+:
    WidthDual - slot
sooooo um yeah not sure if it will fit even '

let me know your opinions and whether or not the GTX+ will even fit!

    Regards,
    TomTuff

I would choose the 9800 GT.
Also, you should've added a poll to this thread .

GTX+ has 138 MHz / 336 MHz faster core clock, 400 MHz faster mem clock, 12.8 GB/s faster mem transfer rate, and 16 more pixels per clock.

I'd use the GTX+, and it will fit. By the way, you forgot the important part, "1 PCI Express x16 Graphics slot" which is the next line after the part you quoted. Both cards use PCI Express x16. GTX+ would fit, but looks like you can't fit a card into your next PCI slot below it.

Use GT if you need that slot.

From what I was told the processor clock was faster on the GTX but the GT had more memory.

I'm pretty sure both are 512MB. The only reason why you wouldn't get the GTX+ is if it wouldn't fit in your case. And since it looks like it will fit in Tom's case, I'd say go for the GTX+.

If that is so, then you should indeed get the GTX.

    512 VRAM = bleh unless you're on a laptop.

    Go for GT220 = 1024.

I have the XFX GeForce 9800 GT and it works like a charm. I can play many games on highest configuration.

Tough I would look for something with 1 GB RAM in it.

It's a great card. I can play pretty much every game with it .
But the one I had first was red and the fan was horrible and it made a shitload of noise ALL the time.
So my dad thought that it was a problem with just this one and went to Best Buy (he doesn't shop online) and bought the exact same box we bought before (Radeon 4670 HD) and the box looked exactly the same and when we opened it, it was a LOT different. The fan is HUGE and it makes no noise at all. It also costed about $20 less . I'll take a picture of the two tomorrow as I'm about to go to bed.

Eh, I've had more compatibility issues with ATI cards than with nVidia cards.

9800 GTX+ > 9800 GT, definitely by more than $10 worth. However I would consider investing in a Corsair 500W or greater PSU, as either card will put a fair bit of strain on your system.

Make sure you put the card in your PCI-E x16 slot, as x8 and x1 are significantly slower as the name suggests.

    Hey guys,

So me and my dad had a small debate whether it was worth it to purchase an ATI Radeon HD 5750 rather than GTX+, because the 5750 will support DX11 when it comes out, whereas none of the nvidia cards out right now support DX11. However, the GTX's bus width is 256-bit but the 5750 is only 128-bit.

In the end, we decided to with the radeon because of the DX11 support and the faster 1 GB of GDDR5 ram compared to 512 mb of GDDR3 ram in the nvidia card.

So we went by microcenter and picked up an XFX ATI Radeon HD 5750 for $160 + tax.

It runs pretty good! It supports my dual monitor setup just fine

Now, what are some good games to test it out on?

Good choice, the bus width on the 5750 doesn't hurt it like it does the 5770.

    Congratulations with the new card.

You should try out Ungine Heaven Benchmark ( http://unigine.com/download/ )
It uses the latest DX 11 features.

I'm not much into gaming, so I wouldn't know what game is awesome.
