    Default annoying click in headphones

    Hey guys

so one of my xmas presents was an HP premium stereo headset. In firefox, when i change tabs or scroll up and down there is annoying click that kind of hurts my ears

any way i can fix this?

    thanks,
    TomTuff

    edit:
i was listening to some music, and all of a sudden, the headphones crackled and the music stopped. normally, when you click the volume controls, the green bar goes up and down to represent how loud the noise is. well, its stopped and not moving. It has done this once before but smacking the headset worked, but this time it's not!

I think it could be a driver problem with my sound card. What do you think?

I personally think your headset might be damaged. The first described problem I've had similar, very very very quiet clicks when scrolling in anything (parents couldn't hear, but me and friend could.) But music stopping? Physical change working? Sounds like the headset.

Well, try using newer drivers, if they're updated, try older ones. Your edited problem makes it really sound like driver controls, perhaps hitting the headset and it fixing was pure coincidence.

Try using it with another computer to see whether it is the fault of your computer or the headset.

    Checklist for the mic:
    A) Both cables are connected if it has line in, ignore this if it's a USB.
    B) Microphone is set as default recording device, and/or your program(s) have that microphone set as the recording device.
