Default Can you read upside down/or backwards?

    Well, can you, can you?

It's not that common for people to be able to read text upside down as fast as if you were reading it right side up and it's even more rare to be able to successfully read text sdrawkcab (backwards) as fast as they read it regularly.

Aside from this, it's even more rare for people to successfully write a word backwards as fast as they write it forwards and even rarer for people to be able to successfully write a word upside down as quick as they can right side up.

So, I decided I wanted to know about SRL and their abilities and skills in reading English text in these four obscure ways.

It's simple, all you have to do is choose an option in the poll above (note that this is a public poll, meaning that the public of this board can see who voted what).

I know I can read text backwards as fast as I can forwards as-well as reading text upside down as fast as I can right side up. However, writing is a different matter

EDIT: Woah, crap. I didn't realise that this was already posted, as I needed to submit my poll first. I also had to compensate for that damn character limit of 100 characters -.- (which is why there may be some spaces removed in the poll options )

I can read upside-down almost as fast as I can right-side up. The others are all much slower for me.

Dan, (if you can't create a poll after making a thread, I'm not sure?) tell me the poll question/options you would like, and I'll make it.

WTF??? If you're just talking about pronouncing it as it is backwards, then that doesn't really mean anything However, if you can read a word backwards then say the word as it is forwards, then that is reading the word

No, talking like in not reading :P
Me and my friend used to train that in class, sdrawkcab gniklat detrats ew dna
EDIT: We talked more like "dna ew detrats gniklat sdrawkcab". It was too hard to flip the whole sentence

I can read upside down well, backwards slows me down a sec, but I get it quickly. And I have no use to write backward/upside, so I have no idea.

Well I knew I could read upside just as fast as I could rightside up, but I didn't think I could read backwards. I just tried it though and I have no problem with backwards or upsidedown (I already voted in the poll though).

Writing however, is a different story. I don't think I could write backwards or upsidedown fast at all.

I think da Vinci wrote some, if not all, of his journals/sketchbooks with backwards text.

During psychology class last semester, i wrote all my notes upside down and much of my other writing in that class with my left hand (I am right handed). I can write upside down ~85-95% that of my normal writing speed, though that is more my upper limit of upside down and my regular speed for regular. I actually think my upside down writing is more legible than my regular because the more complicated letters are more exaggerated rather than being rushed through in regular writing. This all means that my upside down reading is about the same the writing.

Ive never tried writing backwards but it would probably be slow because the figuring out how to write the words backwards. I can read it at about 95% if the whole sentence is backwards and its just reading right to left.

I can read backwards quite fast but I've always been strange when it comes to writing though.

I'm left handed and hold a pen like this (looks just like a clenched fist) which was quite awkward when i were with different classes as they tried to copy it >_<

i see a lot of left handed people hold their writing implements like that. Its really weird.

I hold it like this - but i also find it odd when people hold it that far away from the tip, it seems like it would make it so much harder to write that far away.
