Default 3 March 2010 Hit Point Changes (Constitution)

    http://services.runescape.com/m=news...n&allcat=false

Basically hitpoints are by 10's now so if it's lvl 11 you have 110 hitpoints lvl 15 you got 150 hitpoints etc..

I guess they're lifepoints now too

also huge upgrades for iron smelting

    http://services.runescape.com/m=news...p&allcat=false

and the login screen was changed

and! the 4th upgrade for today...

some strange rock stuff to lvl our skills more

That HP upgrade is rubbish! You just have 10x more HP and deal 10 more dmg! The only thing is that you can deal damage more often. I mean, if your LP is 700, and the other guy's max hit is 450, he won't hit that all the time. He can still hit 5's on you
So it takes longer to fight now. Yay!

They want to make the numbers bigger to look cooler. Sounds a very noobish way of making the game fancier for me. It's okay then in other games you hit bigger and have more hp but that wasn't just a multiplication of the numbers.

    meh......
    What Constitutes the Change?
    by Mod Mark 03-Mar-2010

Why have we made this change?

We have often felt that the early levels of RuneScape are quite tough to understand and learn, and have been consistently working on improvements to the initial part of the game for the last two years or so.
One of the things we realised from play-testing our game was that new players hit quite a lot of zeros while training combat, and zeros are boring. We wanted to give more excitement to the early parts of the game without making it easier.
Equally, when a new player was hit by a monster, they only had 10 hitpoints to absorb that hit. The minimum damage we can do to that player is 1, which was 10% of their total hitpoints - a hit too big for someone learning the game.
With this change, we can allow low-level player to take hits more appropriate for their level, and deal small amounts of damage instead of seeing so many zeros.

Why change the name of the skill?

The term 'hit points' is a term associated with typical pen-and-paper roleplaying games. Traditionally, it’s a mechanic that allows a player to track how many hits they can take before they die. When we realised that our hitpoints mechanic needed to be changed, we didn’t want to confuse our players by using the same term to describe something else, so decided to remove the old term completely.

Are there any other benefits to the change?

We can start to use the skill itself in quests and skill updates. The problem we had with the skill being the same at the total hits a player could take was that we could never really affect the skill itself. This change allows us to add things like Constitution potions, which could increase your maximum life points but not actually heal you, or add a weapon that drains your opponent’s Constitution stat as well as doing damage to them. It really opens up lots of new design opportunities that were previously unavailable. If you have any ideas on how we can use the Constitution stat, please let us know on the forums.

Is this the new skill you were talking about?

No! We are still working on the new skill; this is not it.

    Very good point.

I guess Jagex is just wannabe WoW and other MMORPG with more hp and dmg.
F*ck Jagex and their stupid and weird updates that messes up our lovely and sexy scripts... This downtime was just unecessary

Lol yeah I saw that too, 2-3 players online. I said to myself "I would lov to be able to sign on and find those 2 ppl(jmods hopefully) and be like..HI!!!! -run away-" lol i dont know why I think it would of been funny. But on a serious note..it does seem like they are trying to copy of WoW and stuff. Quite pathetic. But the worst update for our lovely sexy scripts is the new login page. right now no script can get through it

Not completely true. You can make a blind click log in function, and from what I've seen it'd work 100% of the time. But don't worry. It'll be a few hours before it's all back up and running, I'm sure.

Decimals. It's still multiplication of ten, unless I'm mistaken, and I may very well be.

Well, depending on how damage was calculated previously, this could actually speed things up. If fractional damage was floored previously (ie, 4.8 would become a 4), you'll do more damage now.

Iron bars at 420 each are ridiculous anyways, it was time for them to drop.
What happened to the days they were 200ea? They've been like that for *years*.
I made a new script, check it out!.
