Default Should I bother learning SCAR now?

From what I've read, it seems the SRL community is moving to SIMBA. I have just a couple questions.

    1. Why move? What does SIMBA have to offer (nice name, btw).
    2. Will SCAR be considered 'outdated'?
    3. Is it worth learning SCAR currently?
    4. Are aspects of SCAR used in SIMBA?

    Thanks,
    Steve

    Its Simba, but thats irrelevent.

We are moving to Simba because it is a better option and is more along the lines of what our community stands for. Learning. Its Open-Source, cross-platform, and developed by much of the Staff/Developers.

    2. Yes, more than likely. I'm sure some will use it, but SRL 5 will be written in Simba.

    3. Yes, its similar/same syntax.

    4. Yes and no, things are similar but different. You will have to wait and see that one for yourself.

Hope I cleared some things up for you

It's both pascal script. So the syntax is about the same ;].

Sorry, should have added, just the names of some functions/procedures are different or work slightly different right now.

    My apologies.

I'd still learn it. I've used both, and switching to Simba doesn't require any different programming knowledge. There are just some functions/procedures that'll be named differently or have slightly different parameters.

I agree with the rest of them.

Learn SCAR, and the transition to SIMBA will be nearly seamless. It's essentially the same thing, and it will be much easier to learn SIMBA from SCAR than from nothing at all.

Just learn SCAR, it'll be really easy to switch to Simba (right now there are only subtle differences, but nothing really different).
I made a new script, check it out!.

Alright, cool, thanks. I think it's about time I learned it anyways, eh? Should have learned it three years ago.

Funnystory; I've been autoing since I was 12 (when I registered). I obviously wasn't the brightest, yet my main still has not been banned, which is the only account I've ever autoed on.

    Love Jagex.

You can't at the moment! Its not released, its available to select few for testing/developing.

Don't worry, we are nearing a beta-release. Lucky you, you got in before registrations closed.

Beta will be released after registration closes? Or after the registration re-opens? Any time frame when it will re-open?

I say everyone who's 3yrs+ should be SRL Member! 1:P.

Going to start working on the script later today, hopefully. Beginning a new script is a challenging prospect...I really don't know where to start.

You should start now. If you start now, you can start using Simba when it comes out. SCAR and Simba have generally same structures/functions etc with little bit changes here and there and few additions etc.

    So...

Whoever linked me to Coh3n's tut, thank you! Consts, Vars, For/to/do, they're all easy. But I haven't memorized them completely yet (will come with time, I assume), and having them all on one page saves me so much time. That way I can learn something new, and when I need some small formatting correction, it's also on the same page.
    Thanks again!

Also, something like an Alcher/willow chopper probably won't get me into members, nor are they really respectable scripts (at least, by my standards), so, in essence, what makes a script complicated/complex?

Object finding with TPAs, map walking(also TPAs, DDTMs, radial walk, etc), good logic.

Everyone is so critical of me..

@FEAR, I'm not entirely sure, but I would assume so. Allows to keep it kind of contained for now.

But will that difference of things like the parameters functions/procedures make?

Brandom, to go from SCAR to Simba requires almost no change whatsoever. Don't worry about it. And how are you a Junior member with four posts..?

Will SIMBA have smart built-in? Will it use something similar to SMART (if I may ask)?
