Default What Linux should I run?

Well, I am building a new linux box and just figured I would get your opinions on what distro to use. I am currently running Gentoo, but have ran Ubuntu and Suse... What do you guys/girls recommend? Please try to keep answers short

Debian, my favorite distro so far.
There used to be something meaningful here.

Assuming specs and usage aren't out of the ordinary, just use Ubuntu for the amount of stuff out there.

Ubuntu/Debian for general stuff. (though Ubuntu is Debian based if I remember correctly). Or Gentoo if you know what you're "hardcore"

    Gentoo or Ubuntu.

If you're a power user I really, really recommend Gentoo. I love it, especially for servers. Ubuntu is just all round nice. It has wonderful integration, easy driver support, ``it just works''.

if you liked gentoo but just want to swich things up may I sugest freebsd, it's a lot like gentoo but even more hardcore, it's not linux thow, but that's not allways a bad thing. My faveret linux distro would be eather slackware or debian because of how strict debain is to the gnu stuff, I hate ubuntu btw mainly beacuse it has brought a lot of 12 o clock flashers to the linux community.

    ps my spelling sucks

Arch Linux is for noobs, seriously. Pacman is horrible. It's worse than apt.

So does apt. They are still a true pain. Portage is the best.

    Quite the gravedig there... ;-)
And no, I do not recall my reasoning any more. But I still use Gentoo on all my machines. (villavu.com also runs gentoo)

I prefer Gentoo, also Parrot Linux if you want tools for cryptography, cloud, anonymity, digital forensics, programming etc

Debian or Ubuntu. But they're all Linux and can be configured as you want, so it doesent really matter.
