I forgot your phone is what makes you unigue, especially if the whole world buys them.
E: Why are Apple products unique? IMO they are mainly just recreating software with different branding. The iPod is in no way unique. It plays music, and that's all it can do. I've had music players YEAR before the iPod came out. The App Store? I've used package managers for years, nothing new.

Obviously a marketing strategy.
Ok, imagine if the Evo was going to att.. how would it be?
(att ceo said there is no 4g until at least 2012)
Bobbo: The iPhone is not unique in any fashion. There were plenty of smart phones, and smart phones with touchscreens, out before the iphone came to market. Windows mobile and palm ruled the market at that time.
The iPhone is popular because it is simple to use and marketing is not aimed towards buisness men.
Can any one tell me how the iphone is unique, comparing it to other phones?
We actually had a discussion on the irc a while back regarding the iphone and updates.
When the iphone first came out, it was missing 3g. Can you believe that?
Apple has left out both large and small details that they have been able to easily upgrade to and successfully market. The coming of 3g, the coming of multitasking, etc
again:

Not for long
Apple had better have something GOOD up its sleeves, or it will find itself swamped by android phones! Some of the stuff coming out within the next few months looks extremely appealing!

^ Zune HD. Better battery life, too. GG.
I don't know...with the iPad just released and the 4g expected out in the next year or so, I can see that number getting close to doubling. If the 4g has better graphics and is faster, that will enable a whole new kind of app.
The info I could find said the app store for Apple had 185,000 apps as of April 8th.
The android app store or whatever had under 50,000 just 20 hours ago. It has a long way to go if it will catch up. And its not like the Apple App store will stop growing.
I was going to say within my post leave out that app store, but I didnt think that was too fair, because that is what makes the app store. Android has 50k applications in it's market, and Android has been out for less than two years. The iPhone has been out for 3+ years. There are lots of different smart phone OS's with markets/stores. Just because apple has the largest store does not make it unique.
I'm talking about the phone's hardware and operating system. Not third party software.
Speaking of third party software, you can download packages from external sources (not from the market) and install it on the phone.
The apple app store will stop growing because every thing that can be made for the iPhone, has been made or is in development. Oh, and developers are starting to get tired of Apple refusing their applications for stupid reasons. Ex: "Oh there is a girl in a bikini in an article in this news paper application. NO, REJECTED"

This is where you're wrong.
-The app store is far too controlled for it to continue to grow at its current rate.
-Other manufactures are starting to come out with phones that easily surpass the iphone's hardware.
-The Android operating system is continually improving, and has huge corporations behind it.
-Apple is turning off huge amounts of developers with changes to its developer contract.
-The Android operating system is quickly finding its way onto slates as well as phones.
-The Android user base spans multiple cell phone providers.
Oh, and did I mention: you can use it how you want to

i heard itunes is way overpriced, so im not sure that apple could ever reach a point where they would limit themselves, i personally started hating them and everything they made when i downloaded quicktime, whcih might as well be slowtime

I don't understand? Itunes is free. Just go to itunes.com
Being the largest app store does make it unique. Not counting size is like saying there is nothing unique about Starbucks offering 100 types of coffee and my coffee stand offering 1.I was going to say within my post leave out that app store, but I didnt think that was too fair, because that is what makes the app store. "The apple app store will stop growing because every thing that can be made for the iPhone, has been made or is in development. " I find that very funny. There is no way that can be true, especially with new versions of the iPhone coming out and a new OS on the way as well. It reminds me of a quote I read that the person in charge of the US patent office wanted to close it down in the late 1800s because he thought everything that would ever be invented had already been invented. There is no limit on creativity and imagination and thus there will never be an end to how many different apps one can make.
And much like the frustrated runescape fans ranting on the forums about dungeoning, the frustrated developers are most likely in the minority. There are tons of new apps coming out each day and tons of updates for existing apps. Those quitting are most likely in the minority.
^ The songs on iTunes are over priced.
I dunno, but that's what he was saying, not that the actual iTunes download is expensive.![]()
