    Tie as in, school tie.

    That is a tie as in cable tie isn't it?
    Or is that attache?

    Yeah, Naum is right. I learned that in Dan Browns newest book, The Lost Symbol, where he writes that the tie originally came from a group of bandits who tie some cloth around their neck before going into battle..

    Heh. I'm pretty sure as I had a damn french oral , one of the role plays was: 'What will you wear?'.

    Yep, sorry I was getting confused. In my prep I used attache and got told it was crevate, but was getting confused which was right haha.

    It is cravatte indeed, or if tie as a verb :

    to tie = attacher.

    Tie in French is Cravate, but there are also many words of tie in the French like Attache, Entrave. Anyways it was fun to translate a word and also came to know that there are so many words of the word tie in French.
