    Default Kbot shutting down :(

    Dear KBot member,

I am very sorry to announce the end of KBot PRO. I have been given the opportunity to shut down KBot and avoid legal problems. This was a hard choice to make because I honestly love you guys, but I have promised myself, the staff and my friends that this should not put me or any other person in danger. I have therefor decided to shut down KBot to avoid these problems. I hope you can understand my point of view in this case. I would also like to thank Jagex for giving me this opportunity.

My goal with KBot was never to make a business, it wasn't getting over 50,000 members. My goal was not even to provide you with software to cheat in Runescape. My goal was to learn, and I have achieved that goal without doubt. I have learnt how a lot about making software, web systems, community management, server management and a lot more. Far more than I expected when I started this project. All this would not be possible without you, I am therefor very grateful for giving me this opportunity.

I have spent countless hours on making KBot, it is incredibly sad that it will all be over soon. But I should be happy because I have achieved my goal, it is still very sad saying good bye. I am very sorry on behalf of our many script writers. They have spent countless hours writing scripts for KBot. This may seem for nothing now, but that is not entirely true. I have learnt a lot from this and I hope you have as well. I believe KBot has encouraged lots of young minds to start programming. One of the major blockages as a young developer is finding something to write that can actually be used by others. Without that, all your work may seem pointless and you quickly get bored. That's why I created KBot and I also hope that KBot has given you a purpose to learn.

I am very thankful for all the help and support you have given me. Both material and in other ways. KBot would not be possible without the help from our many donators. On behalf of the staff I would like to thank all of you for making KBot to what it is today.

I will take this experience with me in future projects and I hope our paths will cross once again. However my days with Runescape or any games made by Jagex is over. I believe this project has put my name out there which will give me much more opportunities in the future.

KBot PRO will deny logins from the Tuesday, there will be no more updates to the bot. I also hope that you will respect our hard work and not distribute, modify or do anything with our software. To make it clear the software is copyrighted to me and I hold all rights to it.

I do would strongly advice to stop cheating in games like Runescape. It is true that it ruins the fun for others. If you however want to continue I suggest you are careful. There is many bots out there that is not honest and contains malicious code. There isn't many bots out there that focuses on security as much as KBot.

    Yours faithfully,
    Jan Ove Saltvedt
To all of those who didn't get to try or know about KBot, their bot seemed to be fairly good. Not only did they have a propper bot, they also had a propper community, and very much like ours. I am sad to see KBot going, and Kosaki leaving the scene, I wish I had had the time to get to know him and his community better.

There's actually an interesting story behind this, according to a reliable source of mine: someone from Jagex's legal team approached him IRL..although that was a while ago..

    Have it your way then

This does not really suit in the general dump, but since you guys insist on it.
