Default Robot learns to flip pancakes

Cool video I saw the other day. People make a machine that learns to do things from the way it's moved (kinesthetic teaching). After a 50 trials the robot learns to successfully flip pancakes. Has anyone ever thought of something like this? Literally just like two or three days ago me and my friend were talking about making a toaster that when it's done, it pops whatever's in it out onto a plate, then I saw this video lol, but we didn't think of using kinesthetic teaching, or whatever you'd wanna call it. I think it's an awesome idea how they taught it to flip pancakes, very creative, I would've never thought of it, and it doesn't seem like that complex of an idea to come up with, but maybe hard to get it to work right.

Leaning by doing is an interesting area of programming. Some really cool stuff going on there.

Less awesome, but more practical Pancake stacker.

I know why it took 50 trials, that main moves the fore part of the arm, but the power also comes from the upper arm which isn't used by the man, thus takes lot of time to learn before he "accidentally" does it correct .

Why can't I stop myself from laughing at the bot when it fails? I don't know who's more pathetic; Me or the robot when it fails!

I laughed too, the first ten-fifteen times it failed.
I think it's funny because it kinda looks like the movements of a drunk person miserably failing at flipping the pancakes.

I think the reason I die from laughter, is that I see this robot flipping the pancake a bajillion miles away and THERE'S NO INDICATION THAT IT GIVES A FUCK! "So what, I just flipped a pancake 5 metres away, am I supposed to care?"

haha, I thought it was funny when it went backwards and just flopped onto the desk or counter or whatever is behind it. I don't know why either, just funny, cause a robot doesn't have a reaction like a human I guess. But it's a cool advance to me, may be old, but I never knew about it.
