If you have that much money to blow, it doesn't matter what you buy as long as the pieces are all compatible haha.

No point in asking our opinion...I think you just want us to say "Wow! Pro PC!"

Only dual CPUs and GPUs? Weak sauce. You can get Quad/8 CPUs, and a 4 GPU motherboard which will require its own case. Ram is okay, but with 4 cpus u can have 128gb of ram.

Damn where'd you get the money for that?! Or did you acquire it by other means lol? It looks almost like my dream computer (except I'd have twelve 250Gb SSDs in RAID 6, use Linux or ESXi instead of Windows, and add some other server-type hardware).

Any reason you pick RAID 6 and not 10?

What are you going to do with it? I can't think of anything that would require this. Unless you're going to do some serious scientific calculations???

Well, tbh I was thinking of HP's version of RAID 6, Advanced Data Guarding, but I think you're right - RAID 10 is actually a better choice... It definitely gets a performance boost over ADG, and the controller doesn't have to compute all those parities...

Run lots of virtual machines. Imagine setting up five different boxes and autoing from them all

You're crazy. Why don't you buy a decent computer and use the rest to pay the bills or buy food?

How about this: actually build it for 3k then buy a car/vacation/few months leave of work?

Xeon's are overpriced, just get an i7 (you probably can't dual socket them but who cares). Lets say that one costs $300, and two cost $600.
Now that we use a regular processor, we can buy a decent motherboard. As we want a top-notch motherboard, that'll also cost around $300.
48gb of RAM is over the top, no way we are going to use that. We'll just buy 8gb of OCZ or GEiL as we want to overclock anyways. $200.
We'll trash the soundcard as our top-notch motherboard got a great integrated one. $0
The power supply is so freakin extreme that it heats the entire house. Also, the global warming is also bad. We do need a good one however so we give ourselves a $200 budget.
And who needs $900 SSDs, we'll just buy 4x2tb by samsung (=$400), and for boot one nice Intel/OCZ SSD ($200)
The graphics card is overpowered anyways as noone games on a Xeon. But we do want leet Fermi shizzle. Those cost around $400. I'm not sure if CUDA even scales to multiple cards, else add another $400.
The case will be a nice Cooler Master one. I really like the CM-690 myself and I saw some pretty good reviews about the second installment of it. Afaik it costs around $80 and is thus reasonably priced. It won't fit a dual CPU-system with some kickass coolers though, but for that case use I advise leaving the motherboard at your desk, that's good for the airflow.
Oh and that cooler is shit. I swear at Prolimatech's Megahalem, which is one of the best air coolers you can possibly imagine. They are around $50 and then I'm including some cool Nexus PWM fan (120mm) which fits on it. As we got two CPUs, that'll be a $100.

    Final price:
    $2280.

Now we'll go to *insert nice vacation place here (cherso, lloret, idc, there's probably some nice stuff in Aussie too)*. That'll cost another $3000 as we're going to drink/give away cocktails all the time.

And last but not least I buy a Fiat Panda. 2nd hand = $4500 should get us a 2008 one or so, with not too many kilometres.

    Total price: $9780

I don't think he has too much worries about food or bills if he is buying that type of computer.
