Watch the inventory for how often you get a fish. Not that hard.
If you want to do something more advanced--to an extent--along with the inventory watching, monitor the fishing spot and make sure it doesn't disappear.

find the fishing spot closest to you then move your mouse and read the uptext every now and then. or you should move first then click which is easier

When I made a fishing script way back I did basically what everyone has said.

First I found the Fishing spot and clicked it.

Second, once I stopped moving I refound the closest fishing spot.

Third I looked for the equipment color (the fishing rod) on the mainscreen, above the designated fishing spot I found.

Fourth I used length checks every X amount of seconds to see if the rod was still visible on the screen, and/or checked the inventory. If the inventory did not change in 25-35 seconds, I would look for the fishing spot again and assume I was not fishing.

    Does that make sense?
